Steph: Ya know, flip-flops were really popular last summer. Do you think they’re gonna be in again this year?
Sara: Yeah. I think they’re definitely gonna be in. Everybody loves flip-flops because they’re so easy.
Steph: Yeah. That’s true. You just slip ‘em on and walk around and flip-flop around.
Sara: True. Plus they’re coming up with all these new cute designs, like ones with little heels on them and stuff.
Steph: Oh really? Where’d you see those?
Sara: I think I saw them in, like, In Style magazine.
Steph: Oh.
Sara: Yeah. They’re really cute. They’re just like little, they’re rubber flip-flops. And then they have just a little tiny heel at the bottom. So it makes it kind of fancy.
Steph: That’s totally cool. Like, fashion flip-flops.
Sara: Yeah. Exactly. Very cool.
Steph: Yeah. I was at Old Navy yesterday and there were hundreds of pairs. I was like, oh my god! I guess that’s a sign.
Sara: A sign of summer coming and that they’re gonna be popular.
Steph: Exactly.
Sara: Yeah. You’re probably right.

Where I grew up, in Hawaii, people wore flip-flops every day and it wasn’t a big deal to see people wearing them.
Here in Oregon, however, seeing flip-flops at the store is a happy reminder that summer is on its way.
Personally, I can’t wait ‘til it’s warm enough to wear flip-flops 24/7.
How about you?
