When it comes to bands, there are the good, the bad, and then… there’s LMFAO. It’s hard to categorize LMFAO, because it is such a quirky duo. The band is made up of two DJs who describe their sound as “party rock.”

But although their music might be difficult to classify, it’s also difficult not to enjoy. The songs “Party Rock Anthem” and “Sexy and I Know It” have become huge hits. Even if you think the group is a little silly, you’ll probably find yourself humming along the next time you hear one of these songs on the radio. Hear Marni and Jason talk about this popular duo.

歌曲《Party Rock Anthem》和《Sexy and I Know It》受到热烈欢迎。即便你认为这支乐队有点儿傻,但你下次在收音机中听到这些歌曲中的某一首时,可能会发现自己正在随着音乐哼唱。请听玛尼和詹森如何谈论这支流行的二人乐队。

Jason:  You know what song is everywhere right now? “Party Rock Anthem.”

Marni:  Oh, that LMFAO song?

Jason:  Yes.

Marni:  “Party rockers in the house tonight.”

Jason:  That’s pretty good.

Marni:  Yeah. It gets stuck in my head all the time and it makes me crazy.

Jason:  Why? You mean it just makes you want to dance down the street? That’s what it makes me want to do. It makes me want to go out and buy a neon shirt and put that on and just like…go to the club.

Marni:  Sure, I mean, they’re doing something right, ‘cause that song is everywhere, like you said. But what’s the deal? They’re just two guys, kinda quirky, weird…

Jason:  That’s kind of the new model for a band, you know? It’s just, like, two guys. You don’t need a whole band, you can just have two guys making some electronic sounds and singing to it. It seems very current to do that, to me.

Marni:  Yeah. You know, they also have that song, “I’m Sexy and I Know It,” and I have to say, I did watch the video for that song, and it was pretty funny.

Jason:  See, you can’t resist.

Marni:  I know! What is it?

Jason:  Cheesy dance music has a power.

Marni:  I guess so.

Jason says that he’s been hearing the LMFAO hit “Party Rock Anthem” everywhere. It’s very popular right now. Jason likes the song. It makes him want to dance and wear quirky clothes like the two guys in the band. He can’t resist LMFAO’s fun sound.

Marni agrees that LMFAO is hard to resist. But she doesn’t really love the band. Their songs get stuck in her head a lot, but she finds them a little weird and cheesy.

LMFAO isn’t exactly a band. It’s really a duo, because there are only two guys in the group. They don’t play instruments. Instead, they make electronic music and sing to it. Jason thinks that’s a popular way to make music right now.

Are you a fan of LMFAO? Do you like quirky bands? What songs make you want to dance?

Hello

I have a tendency to hum songs I don’t necessarily like, “delivery” is one of them.

I just admire Doherty’s slurring in it ; )

groove in this context: move, dance , boogie, ; )

“Cheesy dance music has a power”

yeap, it is!

Very rythmic music and cool dancing. It will only just get stuck in my head only because of the hairstyle of the guy on the left. Honestly, I have the same one… somehow.

What i like about it - rythm and dancing movement which are very catchy.

And now I know who sings “I’m sexy and I know it ” :))

Recently, I’m not listenting too much since it get stuck in your head and you can hardly remember where you were the last minute. But in my ‘youth’ that kind of deja vu feeling was with me. Gosh when was it. - just 4 years ago?

If I’m a fan of two singing chia-pets ? I “LOL” when I saw that question… Tongue out

I’m puzzled on what it takes to become a worldwide sensation, overnight. No need to hire an agent, or win a talent show, all you need is a flip camera and a YouTube account. Once your video goes viral, you have success in the bag. Before you know it, you’ve become so iconic that every English Teaching website in the world asks people if they’re fans of yours already. These guys make party jingles, let’s not push the envelope too much and call that music. But I can spend hours bashing their songs but there’s no denying that they are geniuses for their generation, well mine generation as well. They are the youth’s advocates they sing about working out, partying and getting drunk. I think just like technology is evolving our taste for music is also going through a metamorphosis stage, the only difference is that science is moving forward and music is moving towards the back. Lots of the songs that are on now were made with the drunken guy in mind and the typical college party animal as inspiration.

I know I’m going to sound like a broken record, but I have to say most of today’s songs are meaningless and piteous. I feel bad for little Susie and Eric who take piano and flute lessons, who spend hours reading musical notes, work tirelessly to find the right rhythm and pitch for songs that people could listen and draw a nice message from, a family-friendly tune that everybody will snap to and sing along  with in a minivan on the way to a nice friendly park, a song even grandma Elaine would groove to. Finally after months of hard work, Susie and Eric had managed to piece together 12 lovely songs with poetic lyrics and melody that can make a unicorn waltz in glee, songs that can make a humming-bird stop humming and start singing. But to Susie and Eric’s disappointment they’re potential album “Happy prairie tunes for all” is ridiculed at the producer’s office. They were told their songs won’t move 80% of the population that they should consider songs that are more likely to sell with themes such as, sex, party, drink, cheating partners, cheesy dances, money and narcotic over-usage.

Thank God any of LMFAO’s songs are stuck in my head, and I never watched any of their videos. I’d rather spend an afternoon with Pete Doherty than attending any of LMFAO concert ; ). LMFAO I’m not a fan and I know it, sorry. But I admit sometimes we found ourselves drinking too much wine and amazingly find those kinds of distorted insanities groovy. Lately I caught myself humming “Delivery” by Babyshamble quite often, hehe!
