In the US, we like to say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But maybe that’s just because we have such tasty breakfast foods. On a weekend morning, there’s nothing better than a big plate of pancakes, or bacon and eggs. And don’t forget a bottomless cup of coffee to wash it all down! Most Americans have a light breakfast during the week. Cereal, oatmeal, or yogurt and fruit are all popular options. Find out what Jason and Amy like to eat for breakfast.

Jason:  When I wake up, I just don’t want to eat food.

Amy:  Yeah, I know what you mean. I sometimes need to have a cup of coffee before I get my day going and actually eat breakfast. But every once in a while it can be fun to just have a big breakfast, like bacon and eggs and all that.

Jason:  Oh yeah. I’ve got nothing against breakfast foods.

Amy:  It’s just when you eat them.

Jason:  Yeah. The earlier it is in the day, like the earlier I had to get up that day, the less I want to eat.

Amy:  Hmmm. How long after you wake up do you usually eat breakfast?

Jason:  Well, it’s like I usually want to eat around 10 o’clock regardless of when I got up, if I got up at 5am or 9:30. But breakfast food is awesome. I had bacon for dinner last night.

Amy:  Well, it’s fun to have breakfast for dinner sometimes. But what’s your typical breakfast?

Jason:  It depends on what I have going that day. If I’m going to do some exercise, I’ll do, like, a protein shake and some cereal. Something kind of light but nutritious. But if I’m gonna relax, I love to do the eggs and hash browns, sort of a traditional lumberjack breakfast.

Discussion

Go Super to Listen Go Super!

Jason says that he doesn’t feel like eating anything when he first wakes up. He likes to wait until around 10 o’clock before having breakfast.

Often, Jason has a light breakfast of cereal and a protein shake. But on special days when he can relax in the morning, he enjoys a big breakfast with eggs and hash browns.

Amy enjoys a big breakfast sometimes, too. She really likes breakfast foods like bacon and eggs. Sometimes, she and Jason even like having breakfast foods for dinner.

What do you usually eat for breakfast? What time do you eat breakfast? Do you ever eat breakfast foods for dinner?

You got my attention when you talk about a traditional American breakfast.  A special breakfast for me is: scrambled eggs, pancakes, hashbrowns, turkey bacon or steak, orange juice, milk and “we’ll call it a day!”

Saturday morning is my best time.  Anytime I have a taste for breakfast, will surely “trump dinner!”

Ryo, i know Elvis Presley was a very serious sleepwalker and he never grew over that. He could be caught up anywhere in his sleep including a street. Later, his Mom, asked the cousins to accompany him in tours as he could “escape” somewhere during a night. It’s all uncontrollable. Ok, now i will “sleepwalk” too. Good night :)

My son is a sleepwalker too. It’s so scary, he goes down the stairs, sits besides you, his eyes open, but he’s asleep. I think he’ll grow over that.

Hi all…

This might be obvious, but breakfast literally means to “break fast.”

People all over the world fast for different reasons (such as religious), but in general most of us don’t eat while we sleep; hence, we break fast in the morning.

My sister, when she was a very young child, used to sleepwalk. My parents would be watching television, and she would come down the stairs around 11PM, walk into the kitchen and open the refrigerator - all while asleep. Of course, she never ate anything because one of my parents always “caught her in the act” of sleepwalking and put her back to bed.

Sleepwalking can be really dangerous! When she was 12, she tried to climb out her bedroom window - and she was on the 2nd floor!! Thankfully, our dog was sleeping in her room and barked loudly, waking my parents. We treated that dog like a hero until he passed away at the age of 19.

I know this was off topic, but  you all know that sometimes our mind wanders a bit. :)

Like many of you, I’m not much of a breakfast person. I did learn recently that it’s extremely wise to drink water in the morning, more so than coffee or sugared juices. We become dehydrated as we sleep, so the water gives us energy—more than coffee does. Also, it’s best for the water to be room temperature and not chilled. It’s easier on the body that way.

So, I have a question. I was just approved to post lessons on Ebaby. What do people really want to see in terms of lesson content?

Thanks for a good lesson, I really love to learn this lesson. Breakfast is very important meal in my country as well but I never have breakfast. Only a cub of coffee for me in the morning because I’m not hungry but I will try to eat next time because it’s good for my health.

My family members like to have noodles, fries buns and soybean as the breakfast. However,in recent years,we like to choose bread and westen food .what’s why the bakery is popular.
