It’s amazing how time flies. Many schools have reunions for their graduates. When you finish school, your 10-year reunion seems so far away, but when you get there, it seems like school was just yesterday.
Back in 1999, students around the world fell in love with the characters of American Pie a comedy about a group of high school seniors. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long since this film used a flute and an apple pie to make us laugh and feel uncomfortable at the same time.
Some of the actors went on to become huge stars, like Alyson Hannigan who is on the hit show, How I Met Your Mother. Recently, the whole cast came together to make a film about their high school reunion, American Reunion. Listen to Mason and Devan talk about their high school days and their own reunions.

Mason: So, I don’t know about you, but I am really excited to see the American Pie movie, American Reunion.
Devan: Why is that? Did you go to your high school reunion? Can you relate to it?
Mason: Well, first of all, I mean, like, those were kind of defining movies, as ridiculous as they are. And yeah, I did go to my high school reunion a few years ago and was really excited, because most of my close friends who I still keep around are people from high school.
Devan: So, did you see a lot of people from high school that you didn’t really get along with, and were you kind of wanting to, you know, show them up?
Mason: I guess, maybe, because I did, I came to my high school reunion and I was like, I’ve got the good job, and I’m engaged. All those things were kind of lined up, and it was interesting to see where other people were at. But I didn’t have someone who I was like, oh, I’m gonna show that guy or that girl who wronged me ten years ago.
Devan: And you said that you keep in touch with most of your friends anyway, so was it really a big deal to go to your high school reunion, or was it kind of like seeing your friends you see all the time?
Mason: I mean, part of it was, I’m still really close with a lot of friends from high school who don’t live around here anymore, so it was an awesome excuse to get together with them. Not anywhere near as scandalous as I’m assuming American Reunion is going to be though.

Mason tells Devan that he is excited to see the new movie American Reunion. It is a movie with the same characters from the 1999 hit film, American Pie. In the new movie, the old crew gets back together for their 10 year high school reunion.
Mason can relate to the movie, because he went to his own 10 year high school reunion. He had a great time, because he is still close with many of the people he went to high school with, and the reunion was a chance for them to all get together and hang out like they used to.
Devan asks Mason if there was anyone at his reunion whom he wanted to show up. Mason didn’t have any enemies at his high school reunion whom he wanted to show up, but he did feel proud about where he was in his life.
Have you ever been to your high school reunion? Can you imagine what your life and your friends’ lives will be like in 10 years?
