The clothes you wear say something about the kind of person you are. But what about the way you furnish your house? Furniture can say a lot about a person, too. Unfortunately, furniture is expensive. What your furniture might be saying about you is, “Please give me some money.”

Luckily for young people trying to furnish their first home, there are some ways to get deals on furniture. You can look for great retro pieces at vintage shops, or you can try IKEA as long as you don’t mind putting your own couch together from a hundred tiny pieces. Hear Amy and Mason talk about how they like to furnish their spaces.

Mason

Amy

Mason: I’m at that weird place where, you know, I bought a house, but I still have largely inherited all of the furniture that I own.

Amy: Right.

Mason: So, you know, at some point, I own my space, so I look around and I fantasize about, like, what could it be, what would I want to do with it.

Amy: I know.

Mason: Are you in that spot too?

Amy: Totally. And I have a house that is kind of too big for me, and so we just don’t have enough furniture. And it’s really expensive to buy furniture. That’s the thing, it’s like, you can go to IKEA, I guess, but even at IKEA a lot of the stuff seems kind of out of my price range and it’s not good.

Mason: No, it’s totally not as cheap as you think it is.

Amy: I know. It’s hard to furnish a house. But great furniture makes you happy on a regular basis.

Mason: Oh? Is that like a feng shui kind of thing?

Amy: Yeah, I mean, I guess it depends on the person, but I’m pretty sensitive to my environment, and so, you know, there are a couple things in my house that, when I look at them, I just feel happy. Like I have this orange chair that’s this vintage chair that, you know, just makes me feel great every time I look at it. And then I have the broken futon that makes me unhappy every time I look at it.

Mason and Amy both own their houses. But neither of them is satisfied with the furniture they have. Mason has mostly second-hand furniture that got passed on to him by other people. Amy doesn’t have enough furniture to fill her space.

Furniture is expensive, and neither Amy nor Mason knows where to go for chic, affordable furniture. IKEA is a cheaper option than some, but it is often still too expensive for Mason and Amy.

Furniture is important to Amy. She cares about what her space looks like, and having an attractive space puts her in a more positive mood. Broken, unattractive furniture, on the other hand, puts her in a negative mood.

Actually the furniture at my home is very old as the same time we didn’t buy a new furniture since a long time my family prefer to use our old furniture .

For me I would have to choose the American style If I want to build a new house for me I will try to select my furniture with high accuracy .

as we know the furniture is very expensive we can’t live without furniture in our homes , I prefer an modern style more than an classic style .

When I want marry I will furnish my home in everything I have a nice design in my mind .

I like the lights and an specific colors in my home , specially my roos sleeping I will try choose some good colors .

As Amy said furniture makes you happy, I mean in my view, if you have a big house you should furnish it with some things.. No matter that they are expensive or cheap, they must be lovely in your view. As an example I’ve got several snow globes that just waiting to be shaked, not seems usefull but all in all it makes me happy…

I agree with them that sometimes the furniture puts you in a good or bad mood but i think it’s not complicated as it seems, you can make your house looks nice without spending too much money, for example you can paint your house an attractive color or buy some of cute little pieces and accessories which’s not expensive at all and it would make your house looks so beautiful or change the furniture places, i believe that the beauty of your house depends on your taste not how rich you are.

I have a pash for antique furniture)) it looks gorgeous but the real drawback is that it demands a lot of space, plus it’s sometimes unaffordable to buy it or have it restored… and what I have learned from my own experience, the most dreadful thing is transportation!!! I recently bought a huge antique mirror via Internet and I was afraid we would never unpack it)) it’s also incredibly heavy! I really love it and I dont regret I had this deal but next time I’ll think twice!

Once we didn’t have a sofa for a month. I thought I’d be fine without this item and can wait for some time. I don’t remember exatly the reason why we had to wait for a month but I remember well how happy I was when we got one. The most important thing about it that you can lean against it’s back part, you can sit comfortably, your back is relaxed and not tense, like on a chair. Since then I love sofa and understood that this is the item I can’t live without. Good deals on furniture can be in IKEA, but there’s the modern style only. I like more Bombay kind of furniture, but it’s overpriced, very expensive. So I keep it as a role model for a design and then go to small no name stores to find a similar piece.

My room is the type of room I love with all the furniture that represents the personality I have. I have some cute posters and stuffed animals. My most most favorite piece of furniture is the home I carved for my rubber duckies. I buy my furniture at different places. Most of my furniture comes from IKEA.
