Writing a paper is one of the times when you get to be truly creative in school. Your paper can say whatever you choose. It’s up to you to write it, using whatever process works best for you.

Some people brainstorm, do a lot of research, write a rough draft, and finish their papers well in advance. Others like to get in a flow and stay up all night before the paper is due.

Writing surely takes time to accomplish. Personally, I strictly follow the writing process that they teach in school. From pre-writing, drafting, revising and editing, rewriting, to publishing. I have this little notebook where I write the main topic of my choice then I write an outline for sub-topics and other supporting details. I find it easier and more convenient for me to do such preparation before I write my final output.

I agree with Sara, writing and thinking go hand in hand. Although some days I relate to Jason where I start late and feel chill writing just about anything.

writing is not easy to make a frist draft – rough draft. one teacher recommended us to braimstorm to come up with something good. withough thoughts , just writie some words that pops up in my head. so i thik it’s good idea. it can make me think of rought draft and next . if i have some friends to talk with, it can go hand in hand for proofread.  i don’t want to be a last-minute person, but it’s not easy to be a one , eighter. ^^

sometimes , “nerdy” word sounds like “jerk” to me , meaning no play , only studing, i don’t like to be called like that.

when we have something to be achieved someday, we should be “nerdy” to get it done.

naira,   It happens to me  sometimes. Is  like when in our dreams we are  having an interesting conversation and waking up  only to realise that we can not remember what we were talking about. it  looks as though that inspiration  is like a bird  that is  perch  on  the  top of a tree  and flies away the moment  we get close to him. :)))))

I’ve never thought about my approach of writing papers before reading this article!!!..but now when I think about it..I’m definitely the Sara type of writers..brainstorming and rough drafts really help me write better..it’s much better to write from what you had prepared in advance rather than writing off-hand..!!!

Julito, I use this one. Tho it’s in Russian, you can easily use it.

and another one:

http://www.spellchecker.net/spellcheck/english_united_states_spell_checker.html

They are both on line, thus it’s  very convenient. Mind, they are good for only checking the spelling, but not grammar.:)

Julito, to my chagrin, I haven’t read it yet. I’ve read some of his short stories, they’re very good. I’ll get hold of the “Razor’s edge :) ... if I don’t cut my hand.;)

Some grammar checkers don’t flag faulty constructions though. A good writing for me when you read and it’s not difficult for you to grasp the idea. I love Somerset Maugham for that amazing skill. His works not only abound with rich vocabulary, but it’s easy to follow him, let alone the every story of his is a truthful fragment of life in in a nutshell with a shocking and amazing revelation.

For practice of good writing, I use www.dianahacker.com. and Englishbaby!

Masoudhsn, sorry, may I ask you a question? I just wonder if there is a short form of I am not as I amn’t which you used in your comment.  As far as I know, it’s not correct either in  British or American English.

There is another question, if you don’t mind.
We should say ” I’m going with you on vacation, aren’t I?” It’s the rule. But I’ve heard people say like that:

I’m going with you on vacation, am I not?

It sounds much better, does it?

Thank you.
