If you want to find a big collection of books, go to the public library. It’s a great place to find books, along with audio-visual materials like movies and music. The best part of the library is that you can reserve all of its resources for free! You can get smarter, have fun, and save money.

There is a small library where near I live in and I have only been to  several times with my child.

The books about psychology I wanted to read couldn’t be found here, though, there are many many books . I found most of the books in such public library were about popular and outdated.

So I seldom go to the library now unless accompanying my child.

A public library used to be a provider of learning and studying with physical books or journals.
Nowadays they have to find new ways to attract the generation of facebook, google and Wikipedia users. The result of this is fewer shelves of journals and books to hold on to.
Services like free access to the internet, a meeting area with coffee, more comfortable spaces for reading and learning are now, what people call “good qualities”of a library.
Every now and then I do enjoy all of the above mentioned qualities in my library. Sitting down comfortably, having a good cup of coffee while flipping though research material :)

Since the beginning of this century, computer advent has changed our communities and also our personal habits including reading books.

Rather than spending time in public library I always prefer to have my own library and make a silence room space inside of my home and read a book, magazine or things like this or site in the balcony and browse scientific articles related to my specialist. But a few days later (exactly 6 days) everything will change for me and i have to migrate to Turkey and a university in Istanbul which means that i could use one of the greatest libraries in the world and its valuable resources. I think i will spend so much time in liberary which entitles me an excited feeling.

Public libraries are a tremendous resource of information, free internet access, and reference information. In addition, some libraries have book sales for $1.00 a bag, what a bargain and a grand place to spend time. Thanks for this topic!

I used to work at a library of an elementary school  in Houston. My job is to help the librarian check in, check out books for kids, supervise students during the reading time and do miscellanous things in the library. I like this job although it was just my part time job while I was taking some college courses. Even now I still remember the feeling of coming to  school very early in the morning, and together with other teachers & school staffs greeting kids dropped off by their parents in front of school. It is a fond memory that will  be with me always.
