Learn English with this entrepreneurs English lesson

A classmate at the university decided to quit his career as an engineer to start a small business with his wife. They decided to make and sell cupcakes!

At the beginning I couldn’t believe it. It was a great risk!

But they had the drive to succeed.

And finally they have started to grow!

Maybe I’m not brave enough to take such risks in life, but  I appreciate people who really work hard to achieve their goals. It’s all about tenacity!

I like entrepreneurs I’ve met with. Most of them are kind of people who know what they want to reach and look really believing in success. In addition to knowledge how it all works you need to have the abilities and be completely confident…

Eric, it’s an American show where people come with their ideas for business and of course they need financial help from the group of self-made sussecful super super rich guys- so called sharks. The first things the shark should like you, the second- you must be very confident, not boring, knowledgeable about your future venture. And then the sharks, if they get interested, give you an offer. They give you money asking their percentage of share in the company. The future entrepreneur should make a fast decision who to go with, if he hesitates, the sharks may quickly change their mind and the guy will leave with nothing. Yeah, life is tough!

When it comes to business, first research the market—will what you’ re going to sell be demanding, popular, successful. Second, find a partner. Business should never get closed. Circulation, rotation, invention, creation are the drives for a good business. Be passionate what you’re up too and be a good decision maker. Remember, you stopped for a second, your client’s gone. What’s the reward for these nerves- well, hopefully, good money, but you can easily get bankrupted also. We are great at coming up with excuses—you don’t have the time, you don’t have the skills (yet), you’re short on cash. These are all great reasons to balk on the path to entrepreneurship, but they should be seen as obstacles to tackle, not a reason to give up all together. If you dream of owning your own business, it’s going to take a lot of work, sweat, tears and cash to make it happen, but if you give more weight to your excuses than your dreams, they might hold you back for good.

Dear Julie, thanks for your  feedback, this is what we all have to knew about who is an entrepreneur . I couldn`t have explained it better.  

Business dictionary defines this as follows: Someone who exercises initiative by organizing a venture to take benefit of an opportunity and, as the decision maker, decides what, how, and how much of a good or service will be produced.

An entrepreneur supplies risk capital as a risk taker, and monitors and controls the business activities. The entrepreneur is usually a sole proprietor, a partner, or the one who owns the majority of shares…

So if u start ur own business u are an entrepreneur.  To start smth successful better if ur idea is innovative. There are a lot of competitors and to win u must be the best. U have an idea, have finance to start it, covered all ur bases in concerns of risks, why not to start up? 

I am taking a coursera online activity on entrepreneurship, Mehmed. Probably currently they have smth similar as mine started 2 weeks ago and now I guess it’s hard to catch up.

To have ur own venture gives u independence and freedom, this is absolutely correct Julito. Besides it’s quite interesting and makes u grow and develop.

I see your point and i agree,  it looks as though the word entrepreneur conveys the meaning of  doing innovative business , but i dunno, i may be wrong.
