In 1993, the first episode of the X-Files appeared on TV. This sci-fi drama told the story of FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Agent Mulder loved to study conspiracy theories about aliens and government scandals. Agent Scully usually didn’t believe in these conspiracy theories. People loved the X-Files because it told strange stories that were very entertaining. The original X-Files TV show ended in 2002.
This year, X-Files fans got a big surprise. The original actors returned to create a special miniseries season of the X-Files. This miniseries has six new episodes. Fans of this TV show were like kids in a candy shop. They couldn’t be happier to have more X-Files stories with their favorite characters. Now, the only question is: Will Fox Television be renewing the show for even more episodes?
Andy is a big fan of the X-Files. Listen to today’s episode to hear him explain this television show to Kelsey.

Andy_H: Do-do-do-do-do-do. Boom. Boom. Boom. Do-do-do-do-do-do…
Kelsey: Andy, are you OK?
Andy_H: Oh! I’m doing even better than OK. They’re renewing the X-Files! Agent Mulder and Agent Scully are back on American television.
Kelsey: Wow! Are they doing a whole new season? Is it a miniseries?
Andy_H: It’s definitely a miniseries, and they’re releasing new episodes every single week. I couldn’t be happier. When the conspiracy theories started rolling out in the 90s, I was like a little kid in a candy shop.
Kelsey: You know, I’ve always enjoyed sci-fi, and I’ve always loved crime shows, so I love the idea of the FBI and sci-fi joining.
Andy_H: Oh man, you would love this show. It’s all about aliens, convoluted FBI government scandals…. It’s incredible!
Kelsey: Wow! Well, I definitely want to make sure to watch this.
Andy_H: If you’re not doing anything on Sunday, you should come over to my place, and we can watch the entire miniseries.
Kelsey: OK.

Discussion
Andy is as happy as a kid in a candy shop because Fox Television created six new episodes of the X-Files. This miniseries is similar to the original X-Files TV show, and Andy is excited to tell Kelsey all about it. He sings the X-Files song for her, and Kelsey is a little worried. When Andy explains why he is singing, Kelsey is also interested.
Kelsey loves to watch both sci-fi and crime TV shows, so the X-Files sounds like a great combination of her favorite entertainment topics. Andy tells her that she will love the conspiracy theories about aliens and government scandals that are in this TV show. They agree to watch the miniseries together on the weekend.
Do you have a favorite episode of the X-Files? Which conspiracy theories do you believe in?
