#260:  Spongebob Squarepants Movie:  Sponge Out Of Water

Instructions:  Listen to the youtube video above and fill in the blanks below (or write your answers on a piece of paper). Beginners can use the list of missing words and phrases, but advanced students should try to fill in the blanks just by listening to the video (without looking at the list of missing words and phrases).  The answers are given at the end of the lesson.

Main Features:  The most important feature in this video lesson is the phrase "should have", which has four possible sounds:

-- 1) "should have" (the full pronunciation,
-- 2) "should ev" (the "h" is silent),
-- 3) "should uv" ("have" sounds like "of"), and
-- 4) "shoulda" (the "v" is silent).

Americans use all four of these sounds when they talk.  In this video you'll hear the last one, "shoulda".  You'll also hear this same pattern of sounds in the phrases "would have", "could have", and "might have".  The first book that used these words in its title is "Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda: Overcoming Regrets, Mistakes".

Missing Words and Phrases (7):  going to [gonna]; he [ee]; him [im]; need to [need da]; should've [shoulda]; to [da]; you [ya].
