Yulia, you are always precise and comprehensive, I absolutely agree with you, good scholars are good in both these areas. They are curious and practical at the same time.

Dear Katiya,
Book smart teachers are academicians; If some knowledge is half known than academics seeks to complete that knowledge, while practical man takes the half known knowledge into his practical use without waiting for the full completion.
Medical drug researcher Vs Medical Doctors.
For instance medical researchers know few actions of useful drug Aspirin, and they further aim to complete full knowledge of Aspirin’s effectiveness in different other diseases.
Half known research suggests that Aspirin is effective drug against headache, and blood thinning.
While Doctors as practical men don’t wait for complete knowledge of Aspirin’s action, they take the half of what that is known into their practice, and aim to update their knowledge as the knowledge about Aspirin expends.
.............................
This is exactly what academics stands for; knowledge for the sake of knowledge and learning for the sake of learning.

The book smart is fully into the book as if he were able to find out everything he needed to know. While doing it, he didn’t even realize how much inattentive he was not taking notice at the real world of ignorance, and as a result, he got into a scrape whereas the street smart was about to get the victory.
Unfortunately they can’t conclude peace as the book smart can’t find it in the book, and the street smart doesn’t want to explain anything. Dilemma!

Thank you Saladeen! Very good explanation. I haven’t been familiar to these English terms before. It’s best for a person to be both book smart and street smart. While working at the university, I came across some very book smart but absolutely non street smart men-teachers who were unable to solve the simliest every-day problem. It was quite funny at times. :)
