 Hi,

Could anyone please list me all the contexts in which modal verb 'would' should be used instead of 'will'?

Thank you,

Would is used like the past tense of will. So one context in which to use would instead of will is in a sentence like, "She said she would be late." (Rather than "I will be late.")

Most often, would is created to form the conditional, as in, "I would do better in school if I studied more." Finally, we also use would to talk about an action that we did repeatedly in the past, for example,"When I was younger, my parents would take me to Disneyland every summer."

Thanks for the question!
