definition: unusually flirtatious yet shy

example: She's not calling me back just because she's coy. Give it time.

Please help me, I don't understand the definition, but there is only one example. I'm confusing with this word.

Please give me more example or define it more detail.

Someone who is coy is likely to cause confusion so it can be a confusing word!

A coy person is someone who flirts and then retreats in hopes of being pursued. It's usually used to describe women. If a girl were to wave at a boy across the room at a party and then hide the rest of the night and not talk to him, that would be coy. If a girl touches a boy a few times and then hangs around him, acting like she wants to be kissed, then refuses to kiss him, that would also be coy.

Usually, the girl really wants to be kissed, she's just being coy to make the boy try harder because it's fun for her.
