1)”He may not be there or she would have seen him”. What does the conjunction “or” imply in the sentence? What does the sentence actually mean?



2)”He doesn’t like this job or that’s what he said”. Please tell me the actual meaning of the sentence.

In the first example, this is an informal construction that means the equivalent of, “If he had been there she would have seen him.”


In the second, “or” is being used in the conventional manner. Either “He doesn’t like his job,” OR, he simply said he didn’t like his job, but may or may not have really meant it.
