Greta didn’t used to think of herself as someone who was accident-prone, but now that she’s gotten hit by a car and fallen off a boat, she may have to adjust her thinking.



In the above sentence what does the adverbial “now that” mean? Does it mean something like : now when she’s gotten hit by a car and…........her thinking?

Yes, more or less. “Now that” draws more attention to the time-based nature of the change-something particular happened at a certain point in time to change things-than “Because” would.
