Marni: I have a lot of concerns that they’re just not very safe. I think it could be putting him more at risk getting him immunized than I could be not doing it.



I don’t think this sentence is grammatical. Wouldn’t this make more sense?

Why Marni said I instead of it? it doesn’t make sense.

Marni is concerned about whether she should take her son to get immuniations. In the first clause, she uses the word it because she would not directly give her son the shots. It would be a doctor or a nurse. However, she is the one who could choose not to immunize him. Therefore, it is correct in the first clause because it’s a general idea. I is correct in the second clause because Marni is responsible for not taking her son to the doctor.
