How long have you been learning English?

"How long have you been learning English?"

Have you ever been asked this question?And the answer is...?

And I'm so shy to say that "I have learnt it since I was twelve" but...

In my country, we, all of the pupils in Vietnam start learning English as a main subject from twelve years old.It means if I'm 27 now, I have been learning it for 15 years. And let's see how good my English is. Not only I but also most of students in Vietnam are not very good at English, especially speaking, when graduating from highschool after 6 years learning English.I can say it's waste of time to learn it for that so long time.In addition, it is not much better in university.Except in English falcuties or falcuties where English is extremly important,  English is perfunctorily taught in most of university. The students spend a lot time in the class to learn English but the result is not approriate. That's a big problem and i think it's too long to mention about all this time.So, I will temporarily stop here and continue in next time.
