If there is one thing that I have learned to respect and to appreciate with all my years working at various schools is that a “teacher” cannot be a friend with his or her students.  I mean, sure, we must treat everyone with respect and honor, but when a teacher or anyone with anyone else looking up to him or her as in a teacher-student or even as a boss-employee relationship that anything outside of that teaching-learning relationship is generally asking for complications.

I am currently employed at three universities—the students there are all young, excited about life, and are full of energy—and for some of my collogues, this has proven to have been a great temptation—and for all those who have weakened and have allowed themselves to “fall into temptation” have all but run into ruin.
