It was a weekly news magazine years ago. I haven’t seen a paper copy in 20 years, but when it was a paper magazine it was a nice central viewpoint of the important news events of the week.
It used to be common in barber shops, in the style of Time magazine.

Dear Joe,
thanks for introducing me to this new source of news. Honestly I never heard of “Newsweek” before. Is this some kind of news show or a newspaper?

The German radio station “Domradio” says that in Rome (Italy) near a Catholic church someone found exactly 36.000,00 € in two shopping bags. While some speculate that someone probably earned this money by illegal means and just wanted to rid himself of it out of guilt others say this was probably just the work of a very wealthy person who hid this money somewhere in town for random less fortunate strangers to find it.

The German TV-channel “RTL” reported that in Alabama a boy of only 13 years was considered braindead. Multiple doctors came to that conclusion. So the parents now decided to turn off the engines that provided him with air, nutrients and water. However as everyone was getting ready the boy suddenly started to show signs that he was alive. Alas doctors obviously can’t tell yet to what extent the boy will recover.

The German newspaper “Mitteldeutsche Zeitung” brought up two very encouraging stories today both of which took place in Halle (Saxony/ Germany):
>A gentleman of almost 91 years saw another gentleman who was burning after an accident with heated oil this week. He remembered similar cases from World War II and knew immediately how to help the gentleman who was still in flames. Both men survived!
>A gentleman of 27 noticed a gang of three men this week who were attacking a lady. Despite being outnumbered by them he tried to intervene, but in the process the gang turned on him and injured him. However the fight at least got the attention of several people, meaning that the three gang members decided to leave both the gentleman and the lady alone. They fled and despite her having been quite shocked and him having needed medical treatment in a hospital, they both are okay now.
