Dear Pithacker,

Generally ''some'' is used in affirmative statement and polite offers ore request.

Example :

1. would you like some more coffee?

2. Some time ago I met my old friend Sandy.

''Any" is used in quastion and negations.

Examples :

  1. There isn't any better left.
  2. If you need any help, ask.

I wish you all the best in your life.

Yours Sincerly
