I am studying now using Oct 10, 2008 lesson("Camping").  In the dialog,Mason complains that he gets very tired afer he gets back from a camping. Then,  Marni says "Well, there's a little bit of that. A little downtime where you veg out"  What does she mean by "a little bit of that"?  What does she mean by  "a little downtime where you veg out" ?

Hi! Good questions. Marni means that when you camp, it is normal to be a little tired afterward. "Downtime" means relaxation time and "veg out" means relax or take it easy. So she probably means that after you get back from camping you need to have some relaxation time.

I would say "veg out" is to vegetate, act like a vegetable, relax or take it easy!
