Mason:  I have crossed that mighty traditional bridge. It was fun. I mean, I had really low expectations as far as what I might get out of it.


1. Was Mason talking about a real tangible bridge or some kind of metaphor? What’s bridge have to do with high school reunion?


2. I don’t understand the sentence ‘I had really low expectations as far as what I might get out of it’. Does it mean “I didn’t expect I would get much out of it, I didn’t expect there would be much I could gain from it”?

1. Mason is using a bridge as a metaphor to talk about going back to his high school days at the high school reunion. He’s saying the reunion is like a bridge back to an earlier time in his life.


2. Correct. The sentence means Mason did not expect that he would gain much from the experience of attending his high school reunion.
