Why do people put baby at the end of a sentence like, “What’s up, baby?”

Putting “baby” at the end of the sentence can be a term of endearment. If you’re talking to a boyfriend or girlfriend, for example, you might say, “What’s up, baby?”

However, putting “baby” at the end of a sentence can also add emphasis. It means that you’re excited about what you’re saying. It’s catchy, too, so people like to use it! For example, our website is called English, baby! We’re obviously excited about English and we hope you are, too.

Best,

Amy

The site’s name finally makes sense to me. I’ve always thought it had something to do with kids(baby).
