Hi! This is Joe filling in for Miguel this week.
In this lesson, Miguel and Nedra discuss summer concerts, which are very popular in the United States. Hundreds of bands tour during the summer and millions of people go to the shows in search of fun in the sun.
Read ahead and see what Nedra and Miguel have planned for the summer!

Nedra

Miguel

Nedra: Hey Miguel, you plan on going to any concerts this summer?

Miguel: Well I haven’t got any tickets yet, but I do really wanna see a couple groups like Dave Matthews and Radiohead.

Nedra: Yeah. I think you missed the Radiohead concert that was last weekend.

Miguel: Oh it was? Well, maybe they’ll come here again later in the summer.

Nedra: I don’t know. I hope so.

Miguel: They’re definitely one of my favorite bands, but what about you?

Nedra: Well, I’d love to go to the OzzFest, but those are like seventy or eighty dollar tickets.

Miguel: OzzFest? What’s that?

Nedra: Oh, it’s a festival that Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath put together.

Miguel: Oh, okay I gotcha. So it’s kinda harder rock stuff?

Nedra: Oh yeah.

Miguel: (Laughs) I see. That’s not really my style, but you know if you’re into it that’s cool.

Nedra: Yeah. I’ll probably go to the RockFest next month though.

Miguel: So RockFest is different than OzzFest?

Nedra: Yeah.

Miguel: Who plays at RockFest?

Nedra: This, this year Godsmack’s headlining.

Miguel: Wow. Godsmack. I don’t know them either.

Nedra: That’s okay.

Miguel: Are they hard rock too?

Nedra: Yeah. Yeah.

Miguel: Okay. What about like Backstreet Boys ’NSync? You’re not too into that?

Nedra: No. That’s not my style.

Miguel: (Laughs) Oh okay. Well mine either.

Nedra: Okay.

Discussion

Nedra likes some very interesting music. It’s very different from the music Miguel likes. Miguel has never even heard of the concerts she is talking about.
One of the best things about music is that there is something for everyone – no matter how different the style.
Unfortunately, Nedra doesn’t know if she will be able to attend the OzzFest concert because of the ticket price. Concerts can be very expensive.
