He’s not just a backup dancer. And he’s more than just Britney Spears’ husband. Kevin Federline is trying to show the world that he’s a rapper too.

Britney Spears introduced her hubby as “my man” on the Teen Choice Awards in August. K-Fed chose the awards show to debut his song “Lose Control.” The song is on his first hip hop album, Playing With Fire, which is scheduled to be released in October.

His performance got mixed reviews. Listen to Amanda and Erin chat about Federline’s rap.

Erin:  Um, I really don’t get what you see in Mr. Federline.

Amanda:  Did you see his performance on the Teen choice Awards?

Erin:  Ya know what? The guy should just accept the fact that he has a sugar mama and stop actually trying to convince the public that he’s talented.

Amanda:  I have to ask: Did you see the performance? Before you judge!

Erin:  Do I need to see more than the pants hanging off of his butt? Because I don’t think so.

Amanda:  The Teen Choice Awards was his first official network performance on national television, and you know what? There were some haters. People that hate him as a person, hate him as Britney’s baby’s daddy and nothing else, but there were some people that said that he wasn’t horrible.

Erin:  But there were also some people who said that he really does suck. Hence, Rolling Stone’s…

Amanda:  Do you really find them to be, um, uh…

Erin:  Accurate? Yes.

Amanda:  Really.

Erin:  I think he’s really just taking the money and the fame and the attention that he’s gotten by hooking up with Britney Spears and he’s totally just milking that and he’s, like, “Oh, well I wanna be a rapper.” And so now he’s just turning around and he’s trying to, like, you know, have a career of his own. I… He’s… I just…I don’t like him. I think he’s kinda sleazy. I don’t like the greasy thing in the hair going on.

Amanda:  I think he’s kinda dirty/sexy in that greasy way, in that non-bathing way and he’s no Eminem, but he’s also not as bad as Vanilla Ice, and I think he’ll, he’ll do alright.

Erin:  Well, you know, Vanilla Ice had his time and the time has past. And I think the dirty I would agree with, not the sexy half.

Amanda:  Ouch.
