not one’s preference, not something one really enjoys

2. Use - Learn how the slang is used.

Go Super to Listen Go Super!

The British love their tea. So it isn’t surprising to hear an English expression that uses tea. And it’s not just the British who use the expression not my cup of tea. Even though most Americans prefer coffee over tea, they’ll still say something is not their cup of tea if they don’t like it. An American might even say that tea is not his cup of tea!

Since many English people love tea, a cup of tea came to mean something pleasant and enjoyable. So something that is not your cup of tea is something that you don’t find enjoyable. It’s something you do not like or prefer.

The actor Mark Wahlberg may not be a tea drinker, but he still uses the expression not my cup of tea to talk about the kind of characters he prefers playing in movies. Wahlberg doesn’t like playing characters who are too perfect or nice. That’s just not his cup of tea. He would rather play bad boys or tough guys. You could say the characters he likes to play aren’t like tea at all, because they aren’t pleasant, easy-going or cozy. They’re more like a strong shot of whiskey.

What kinds of movies, hobbies, activities or foods are not your cup of tea?

“Mark needs to lose weight, but exercising is not his cup of tea.”

“Some people like musicals, but they are not my cup of tea.”

Forget about movies, hobbies, foods that I don’t like, I’ll tell you what really isn’t  my cup of tea.

That would be jealousy.  I can smell and detect this acidic burp of a feeling from oceans and miles away. Any subtle hint or obvious display of envy spites me and it’s hard for me to get over it.  Because to me jealousy is the most genuine of feelings, and when it’s expressed it’s always with the upmost willpower. Jealousy is jealousy and nothing but jealousy. Love can be faked, joy can be camouflaged, empathy can be disguised, and honesty can be forged, all of those feelings can be tampered with, but jealousy is always felt and served in its rawest state. Nothing embarrassed me more than a person that is projecting some feelings of envy or jealousy, I never take that lightly, because jealousy is always harsh it’s never sugarcoated. Now let me explain why I feel uneasy in the presence of a jealous soul, no brainer! It makes me feel phony. I always pride myself as being overly honest and blunt, people like that about me, even the ones that don’t like me. I don’t strain my feelings and advice to anyone I meet. But when I’m faced with the jealous, I sometimes  feel guilty , pathetic and biased , because I can’t always feel the courage to honestly  tell people that I detected envy in them for fear of hurting them. Because when people are decayed with jealousy, they feel it , and  in the well of their consciousness  they know it’s a wrong feeling to have towards others, (have you ever felt jealous and proud at the same time?),so It hurts them when someone notices it and points it out to them.  Rick: “Damn, Tom you’re such a jealous, shame on you”… Tom:” no! I’m not jealous, I swear I’m not”. But Tom knows he is, it’s just hard for him to admit it.

I’ve felt jealous sometimes, and I had to slap myself and discard that feeling, I don’t want this plague to make of my soul its abode. “Well, I never felt jealous, never” who are you lying to? I ask you, we all have. But you can deter jealousy by being more tolerant of others fortunes and gifts. I like to see others being happy, I feel relieved at such sight, and I really do, it’s an enriching feeling. I see others’ success as a source of inspiration rather than envy. Lots of people fail to realize that when they’re envious they’re only digging a hole for themselves; they’re missing out on an opportunity to learn from someone else’s well-being.  So next time you see someone who’s already where you’d like to be, don’t scorn at him, instead draw yourself closer to him and say “ hey, man! How’d you get there, any advice?”.

My cup of tea is tolerance and friendship   Tongue out

My advice: Jealousy is an impertinent feeling; you can feel it at unexpected moments and towards your dearest comrades, you should repulse it instantly, kind of strike the iron while it’s hot. If you can’t find yourself smiling and overjoyed on the inside when you see a happy face, or a prospering neighbor, you’re a jealous, an envious person ad that’s dangerous. Cultivate tolerance, you’ll find happiness and inspiration through people around you.

Actually I don’t have a specific response about this exercise .

I guess what do you like or what did you were like , It.s depend on your mood , in the past people were like easy life , they were happy because everything was simple .

now we are talk about fast life , we didn’t now what will happened before after minutes .

some people like tea , as the same time some people like coffee .

some people like both coffee and tea .

I think the coffee express on modern life specially if you are living with people who are high status , this is not my opinion I mean some people say that .

some say the tea expess of old life .

I want to say you should drink some of coffee everyday specially at the morning , when you wake up and wash your face after that drink a little coffee Really a nice feeling , the coffee make you active .

For me I prefer sometimes coffee more than tea , I drink tea when I feel some cold .

I read some information which talk about the numbers people who are prefer coffee over the world I was suprising Really everyday about 1 billion a coffee cup over the world , this is number is very huge .

I would like to recommend everyone drinks coffee or tea  like addicted you should to be careful  there are a lot damages if you drink a lot of coffee or tea everyday .

you should to be moderate if you want to drink .

All the best to all members on English Ebaby .

Seiyf, there is nobody without a proud on Earth. You are right as usually. The level of proud is different among people. Somebody is over the top proud, somebody is less than that and somebody has got only tiny part of proud.  Unfortunately, the excessive proud inside me spoils my life. I have to admit I’m very proud person. I’m ashamed, really ashamed. It is a shortcoming among thousands others shortcomings I have got.

I like to learn Turkey is friend with Tea.

Women are complicated you are right again. Would it be intriguing if  all women were  plain?? How do you think?

Seiyf, I understand and appreciate your viewpoint. You don’t want  to be checking from a woman. Something hints me you are proud man – nothing bad in that.

I could not even imagine that Tea can be so meaningful :) I felt in love with tea even more today ;)

Seiyf, hello and nice to see you on-line :) Yes, no tea – no sympathy. Your understanding is correct.

To be a little bit late on the date is a feminine  tradition ( just a way to check man’s feelings).

Women consider: “if he loves me he will wait me untill the cows go home”  :-)

I feel sorry for woman who was late and discovered you were not there. It was a disaster, a big disappointmentCry

I like the old-fashioned expressions  I found out with my favourite word “Tea”

“Tea and sympathy”  – kindness and sympathy that you show to someone who is upset.  Sometimes people want practical advice and sometimes they just want tea and sympathy.

“Would not do something for all the tea in China” – if you say that you would not do something for all the tea in China, you mean that nothing could persuade you to do it . Example, I wouldn’t be an orator  for all the tea in China.

I hear the word “Tea”!  I’m not an Englishwoman, but I also addicted to tea. :) I would like to learn more expressions with that hot word  “Tea”. I must attack Google to find other expressions to remember. :) :) :)

Movies about Second World War, are not my cup of tea.

The biathlon and hockey are not my cup of tea among activities.

Red caviar and beer are not my cup of tea.

Anja, I support your taste about beer. I would rather  order vodka-lemon ( like you said) or whisky “Black Label” or cognac ( especially  “Camus” or “Hennessy”). I sound like an alcoholic now …… :))))))))))))))))))))) nothing can be done – spirits are my cup of tea  :) ( joking ;) )

Julito, I support your opinion regarding the conversation about policy. :)
