Nedra: Anna, is that new movie with Robin Williams any good?

Anna: You mean One Hour Photo?

Nedra: Yeah, I really wanna see it. So does my boyfriend. Should we go see it?

Anna: It all depends what your level of scary movie, uh, enjoyment sorta is.

Nedra: Ok, is it pretty suspenseful and just kinda on the edge of your seat feeling?

Anna: Um, I think there’s two types of scary movies. There’s the ones that they jump out of closets and there’s the one thats kinda intellectual and it’s supposed to be intellectual, but it’s not.

Nedra: Oh really, so I might be disappointed?

Anna: Yeah it had such potential creep factor, but it just doesn’t deliver, it’s very predictable.

Nedra: Yeah, it’s hard to imagine Robin Williams as a creepy guy. He’s just so funny.

Anna: He, he does an okay job, they just needed um, more scenes that made you kinda think about your own life and relate to it. And it was, it was unrealistic. I didn’t get scared at all.

Nedra: Ok, so it’s not Silence of the Lambs?

Anna: No, definitely not.

Discussion

One Hour Photo is a movie about not having a family and being very lonely. I just watched A.I. and that movie left me feeling really sad. For one, I was disappointed in the Spielburg movie. I guess I expected it to be a better movie and two, I felt so bad for the little boy robot. They did a decent job of portraying his loneliness in the movie and I definitely felt bad for him.
Even though Anna didn’t really like One Hour Photo, I will probably go out and watch it soon. Most of the critics did enjoy it. It is a bit odd to see Robin Williams playing a creepy guy.
