"The way sadness works is one of the strange riddles of the world. If you are stricken with a great sadness, you may feel as if you have been set aflame, not only because of the enormous pain, but also because your sadness may spread over your life, like smoke from an enormous fire. You might find it difficult to see anything but your own sadness, the way smoke can cover a landscape so that all anyone can see is black. You may find that happy things are tainted with sadness, the way smoke leaves its ashen colors and scents on everything it touches.  And you may find that if someone pours water all over you, you are damp and distracted, but not cured of your sadness, the way a department can douse a fire but never recover what has been burnt down."

Snoopy,

No matter how fun or enjoyable the definition of sadness seems to you, I would like to see you happy rather than sad. Or if sad, let it pass too soon. Tongue out Smile

what a gloomy feeling sadness is, remind me not to feel that way too often : )

The way you described sadness is a like a intense  scene from a Quentin Tarantino flick.

so we need a bad feeling like sadness to remind us how good of a feeling happiness is. I got that.

but I have one concern, are we destined to carry  with us certain sadness to our graves? There have been some harsh moments I'd like to wipe out of my memory for good, any hope I want to rest in peace ; )

thanks!

Dear Jo,

Thanks for this sweet picture comment. It's so cute. :)

I have a set of plans in my mind, but no definite plan yet, because I do not know what awaits for me. I am thinking about doing masters. For that, I have to take a few exams, so I will concentrate on these exams for the next few months with a focused mind. In the meantime, I will look for a temporary job, I guess, to paddle my own canoe by myself. Let's hope for the best! Smile

Your mind is like a library full of shelves, separate the shelf that keeps you calm amid an ocean of sadness, and believe you have the choice to swim back to this safe shelf at will.

Mess, probably you're right about the strength. It's also individual. I try not think too much about what made me sad, just get some rest and move on. See, even in nature, everything goes in cycles -- full of activities summer and magic, crystal winter which symbolizes sadness. I think it's how it should be. To be always happy is also tiring. Nice blog, nice theme, thank you for making me thinking and take a break from happiness ;)

Ola, I wish I could put a smile on every single face on this planet. I would do it very very very gladly.

I love smiling faces, but sadness is also necessary. Imagine a saltless dish. It would not taste so good when constantly eaten at every meal, right? So feeling sadness from time to time might help you get stronger next time, because you become aware of your weak points and rising up from the ashes is the most thrilling part to me. Smile

In order to see how sandness work, let's see how the opposite to that feeling works. Both are opposites. Sometimes, we need that to be sad for a while. Kind of rest from always striving to be happy which is to me is always a fight, an activity, no laziness! So, just to relax in a smoky ashy atmosphere of sadness is not that bad sometimes. Relaxing! You need to be blank sometimes wandering aimlessly... And it won't last long :), since out of knowhwere, the happy smile will remind you about itself whispering in your ear. "Smile! Pass it on!" :)
