Wherever you go, whatever background you come from, whatever skin color you have, whatever religion you believe in, whatever job you lead or whether you are beautiful or ugly, there is a common thought, "Love is sweet and it lasts forever."

If love lasts forever, then why do people break up?

One of my childhood friends who had been in love for 4.5 years told me a week ago that she broke up with her boyfriend. And today, one of my close friends from college gave me a call to ask how I was doing. Quite by chance, in the middle of the conversation I found out that she also broke up with her boyfriend with whom she was dating for 3 years. These two friends of mine were the people who I thought had found their soulmates and they would marry happily ever after in the end. And my uncle also divorced from his wife with whom he dated for 5 whole years. As soon as they married, they found out that they were not really made for each other. Soon they divorced. I know some other people who experienced the very same seperations which happened at the end of a long relationship.

I am thinking now, there has always been one thing that scared the hell out of me : To start a relationship and break up after several years of complete commitment and dedication. "I am scared of breaking up." This is the thing that I finally confessed. So this is the answer that I must give to those people who keep staring at me like, "You are smart, pretty, beautiful, and attractive. What's wrong with you? Why don't you have a boyfriend?"

People keep breaking up, and divorce rates have been increasing crazily, relationships end surprisingly and unexpectedly, so why shouldn't I be very picky, maybe, keep my distance from those guys who might attract me dangerously and make an excuse to myself, like "I am sorry but I am ugly, so I should just avoid emotional involvements.Tongue out Laughing

Hi Mess,

you're totally right, both teachers and studends ought to do their best in order to feel that the teaching process is going smoothly. One major problem is when one of the two sides is not on the truck or doesn't work hard, in this case the result would be unenviable, moreover it would be worse if the problem comes from the teacher because he's aware, and is supposed to be knowlegeable in the subj he teach; furtermore, many people would say that we shouldn't blame students for their failure instead the finger has to be directed toward the T...logically speaking all the family, the students, the teachers as well as the society have to work together so as to raise a new generations who appreciate the power of the pen and the book :)

Hi Aliazer,

Preparing exam questions for students is a very hard task. I had a lot of difficulty in preparing fair exams for my 10th grade and 12th grade students. 10th graders had the English exam yesterday and the results are surprisingly too bad. There are some top students, but among 25 students only 3 of them got high marks. I felt a bit bad and questioned myself, my teaching methods, and whether I am a good teacher or not, but there is no problem with me, I guess. No one is flawless, for sure so I may make mistakes naturally and I am not perfect like anybody else, but unless students go home and go over the subjects learnt at the school for a few hours regularly, every single day, they fail consequently. Just as teachers must be aware of their responsibilities, students also have to be aware of their resposibilities and fulfill them as required. Unfortunately, we, teachers, do not have an injector to vaccinate information into the brains of the students.

Hi Mess,

u're welcome, i do follow the same method as yours, for intermediate students i pepare the exams by using texts and passages either from the internet or some books or via some fellow teachers, i try to devise content questions/true false statements/ MSQ...by myself, as far as grammar is concerned I depend on some books (practical english grammar/warinors/ or through the Net) i kind of modify the sentences so that they can be authentic to my students'understanding especially by changing situations or proper nouns or vocab that they might not know...for beginners i devise the tests all by myself from writing dialogues or short texts then i manage to make activities which includes language skills...

I still need to ameliorate myself in that field....for sometimes i find that the tests are so easy esp for beginners and the contrary for the intermediate.....hope to hear more from ur expertise :)

Hi Aliazer,

Thanks again for the comment.

I have prepared the exam questions by myself. I created every question on my own except the reading passage. I found it on the internet but I made some changes on the questions relevant to the passage. In my opinion, the teacher should never rely on the internet for exam questions, because children born in this technological age know many tricks about how to reach online information very easily, so it is risky and unfair to stick to solely online English grammar websites. However, I got some help from good grammar books like English Grammar in Use (Cambridge) and ELS (created by Turkish linguists and English Teachers) but I did not copy the questions as they are. I edited them, changed the names, adverbs, adjectives and other things in order to maintain objectivity.

What about you? How do you prepare exam questions?

Mess take it easy, give one amount of your time to your work another amount for your family and the other for yourself, for if you keep on that pace you'll end up in exhaustion and continuous headaches, :) me too sometimes i find myself obliged to spend my whole time with the work and papers but i try hard to look for margins wherein i can breathe, because our health is very essential and yet we have to do our best to serve the students whose parents have put their trust on us....we just need to make a balance between things otherwise we would be unfair either for others or for ourselves  :)

Take care, i read ur new entry about "politeness..what a bliss.." i like it keep on thumb up :).....by the way do u make worksheets by yourself or u apload them from the net?

Hi Aliazer & Snoopy,

Thanks for your honest comments. Your comments always make me happy. It is nice to feel that some people think like me.

Aliazer, I am as busy as a bee so far. I am preoccupied with preparing worksheets and exam papers for my students. More exhaustion is yet to come in a couple of days but I like having hectic days. It refreshes me.

Snoopy, "For those who break up soon, love was never there to begin with." You put it correctly. The point is to make sure of feelings, but do emotions merely suffice to have a successful love or marriage? What about our mind? Secondly, to make sure of our feelings and their deepness requires a large period of time and a great number of experiences lived hand in hand with your partner, and until that time, you already get attached to your partner, which makes it too hard when you break up... Now, it is true to conclude that love is both sweet and bitter. Furthermore, one thing is definite : Whether sweet, bitter, sore or salty, love teaches us who we really are and what kind of strategies we should adopt to live in harmony with life. Wink

Hello Mess,

There isn't anything messy about your thoughts.Quite the opposite, they're very well-organized and based on your own observations and the question you asked is sane ;)

What is love? Maybe one way of knowing is to let people experience for us and eat their convincing accounts. I think this would be a surefire way to avoid any heartbreak of any level, wouldn't it be?.  Some people would prefer to get their feet wet and find out first-hand, God forbid, I hope this doesn't happen to you or anyone else I know, but some of them end up regretting every step they've taken in their quests to love.

let's not be too biased here, we all know or have seen couples whose love just seem to get stronger over time. But unfortunately and most often than we'd wished , their stories are only good to eat ice cream to, while we snuggle in our blankets all alone wishing you were him or her ;). Breakup stories on the other hand, work marvels on our psyches. They affect us more intimately, they're more compelling , they serve as warnings and reminders that tell us this is what happen when you commit your heart to someone, don't make the same mistake I did.

I wish I had a personal and succesful love story to tell you, but the only one I have would make you scream and hug your mother tightly. I've had my heart stomped over, mauled in the harshest of ways you could possibly imagine, but here I am telling stories with smiley face in them. I think breaking up isn't the end, I think  love is worth running the risk.

I have a probable answer to your question. I believe people breakup because love never was there to begin with, clear and simple! ;). Because love, sorry, true love will indeed last forever and can only grow. Yes! I take the plunge, call me a fool, but I believe there's true love out there for people to enjoy ;), for me? I don't know ;). this is the question I ask myself , is everyone entitled to true love? is there love somewhere with my name on it ;)?

nice blogging ;)

Hi MESS, hope that u're fine

I really do like this topic, you are right so many people used to spend a lot of time with whom they are supposed to share their bedrooms in the future but unfortunatelly at the end they broke up like if nothing had happened...the calamity is that such people experience a sort of emotional trauma and shock which might badly affect their psychological health and it has lasting effects. Actually one needs to be careful when trying to find his/her soulmate coz it's a kind of a life project in which u "scrutnize" ur friends so as to get the one whom you beieve would fit your character and personality.

I like the way u conduct ur distance with the others :)......Good Luck
