What’s your sign? People used to use this as a pick-up line back in the seventies. Back then, astrology was really popular.
Guess what? Astrology is coming back around. At parties and over dinner, people talk about their sign and others’ signs and what they mean for their personalities.

Dialog

1. Listen and Read - Listen to the audio and read the dialog at the same time.

2. Study - Read the dialog again to see how the vocab words are used.

Steph

Derek

Steph: Hey, Derek, what’s your sign?

Derek: My sign is Gemini. What’s yours?

Steph: I’m a Pisces.

Derek: A Pisces. Is that the fish?

Steph: That is the fish. Yup, um, I was born in March, so, I dunno. Do you know what that says about me?

Derek: Mmm. No.

Steph: A lot of people tell me that because I’m a Pisces I’m very creative.

Derek: Very creative. Do you find that you are?

Steph: I dunno. Sometimes. You just never know. What about with Gemini? How are Geminis supposed to be?

Derek: They’re supposed to have pretty split personalities, like, ya know, acting one way one day and then another way a different day, ya know?

Steph: Do you find that you do that sometimes?

Derek: I suppose. But I see a lot of other people doing that same thing too, so.

Steph: Sure.

Derek: I would assume that most of these signs would fit just about anybody.

Discussion

With astrological signs, as with almost everything, people play favorites. Recently, at a party, this chick asked me what my sign was after we had been talking for a few minutes.
I told her I was a Pisces and she was so happy. She said that most of her best friends were Pisces and that she got along with them very well. She was sure that we would become great friends.
I haven’t seen her since. So much for the Zodiac.

I am a pisces and I fit the personality of a pisces. however, I totally agree with Derek that most of these signs fit just about any body. astrology is not exact science.
