Intro
Do you remember “the cool kids” in school? They probably hung out in cliques and weren’t interested in spending time with the underdogs or a shy and quiet wallflower.
Popular people are often as insecure as everybody else, though. When you start to compare yourself to people who seem to attract more attention than you do, remember that they have the same worries and fears as the rest of us!
Vocab
Example When I was in school, the swimmers and their girlfriends were the two hottest cliques.
Example I always cheer for the underdog because they rarely win.
Example They were the underdogs last year, but this year they are the champions.
Example My brother likes to be the underdog. He always surprises people when he wins something.
Example At first I didn't notice Jane because she's really a wallflower. But the minute I met her, I was in love! I tried not to be a wallflower at the party because I wanted to meet people, but it's so hard for me to talk to people I don't know.
Example I'm feeling really insecure since I broke my nose. I think I look really ugly now.
Example It's hard to compare Run DMC to Slayer because they are very different styles of music.
