Nobody has won more gold medals at the Olympics than the American swimmer Michael Phelps. It almost seems like he was born to be a swimmer. But he didn’t become an Olympic champion through luck. It took hard work and determination. He had to believe in himself and go for it.

When you really go for it, you try your very hardest. You do everything you can to achieve a goal. You don’t hold anything back, even though you might be nervous, scared, or intimidated.

If you want to succeed in sports, you have to go for it. You might tell your friend “Just go for it!” if he likes a girl but is nervous about asking her out. Someone might tell you to go for it if you want to apply for a job or do something new and adventurous, like travel to a foreign country.

When was the last time you went for something difficult? Did you succeed?

Life is amazing it is always offering us awesome challenges but most of the time we draw back in fear. Therefore, we stop achieving great achievements or even planned goals. Fear can be useful if it is used wisely, however when it is left run freely all the time it only cause all sort of harm. That’s why I think people should take risks more often, with wisdom of course, and go for it whatsoever it is.

Hi all!

I just finished teaching a week-long English seminar for a large group of Chinese students.

I taught them a lot of English expressions, but the following one was their favorite:

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”

I love this one! Like a basketball player, if we don’t try to shoot the ball, we’re never going to make points. If that player tries, it’s likely he or she will earn some big points.

We have to take the shots, and we have to go for it. No one else will do it for us.

By the way, Petarian – I LOVE your example. Forgiveness is one of the hardest things to achieve. If we don’t forgive others, we keep those feelings of hatred and anger inside of us and those feelings poison us. Keeping that anger inside hurts US, not the other person. We have to let it go, and that is SO hard to do.

Instead of keeping the anger inside, we must replace that with love. We have to understand that we are all human and we all make mistakes, and sometimes we hurt others.

Life is all about learning. It’s truly about going for it! I love everyone’s responses on this lesson, such as Irene’s proverb, and will keep returning for updates.

Have you ever forgiven someone who had hurted you deeply?? someone whom actually you had ever loved so much?? Believe me, that is one of the hardest things that could be done by human being!! But I went it!!! Indeed it wasn’t a piece of cake, guys!! it was miserable !! Instead of keeping the anger that could kill me inside slowly but surely I let him receive my forgivness!! It didn’t happen at once. It took time and needed great determination!! Yet It realesed me from ongoing suffering!!
