I get sick a lot. It seems every winter I a have a cold for at least a week or two out of every month. I have a really poor immune system. I don't know about you guys, but I personally hate having to go to the doctor. It seems like every time I go I sit and wait in the waiting area for hours only to finally see the doctor and have him tell me to drink some tea and get some sleep.

Do you guys get sick a lot? What are you cold and flu remedies? Do you have any tricks to share that work really well for you? So far the most effective thing I've found is gargling salt water, but I'd love to hear some new tricks to keep my immune system in shape!

oh poor Devan ! Since the winter is coming,  i think i should throw in some of the remedies that worked well for. First off, why do not you consider taking a shot against cold ?I mean , a vaccine. I heard that it works wonders. Like you will not have cold the season you get this vaccine. Second, you have to work on your immune system when you are not sick, all the year around. Eat vegetables and stuff like that. You may think of taking vitamins and supplements. When you are sick , take anti-biotic , have hot drinks and stuff like that. I wish you a winter without a cold !

One more thing I want to add is this, you go out whenever there is sunlight and get enough oxygen. This works for me.

When I was young I used to be sick alot.Usually before the exams or during the winter. But now I get sick, only once a year, but this time I got sick twice, its about few months ago.Whenever you are sick, you do what you thing is good for you, like I actually dont take medicines whenver I'm cold or having a cough, but when I feel like having a medicine then I do that.Taking rest is more important,my mom doesnt allow me to go to work,if I'm sick, and if I didnt go then I feel great! You should not be stressed. If I have ache in throat then I also take a boiled water with salt....This time was the first time I took injection, before of my sickness, and it did really work, this year I was badly sick. :)

Before running to the doc i usually try to cure myself with keeping myself warm. I try to avoid going out when not necessary. Meaning no meeting friends or so. Luckily i dont have a cold often, and then it lasts maybe 2 days. I close the windows when iam home, and open them when iam away. Depending on my situation, sometimes i open them while asleep. Sometimes we get a cold because the air is too dry, or outside its too windy. It musnt be always cold to get a cold!

I have a pollen allergy, and then it sems like iam having a bad cold.

Drinking  lots of liquids (water) and avoiding unhealthy limos helps the immune syrtem as well. More fruits and raw vegetables too. I try to avoid sugar and salt. That stuff is heavy on the body, and we can replace it with good things to the body. If you dont like tea without sugar, try organic tea. It tastes like delicious water free from acidifiers and other chemicals. It tastes very smooth and is not so dark. I think the immune system needs to be prepared before winter. Especially girls are dressed lightly and dont bother to stay at home when having a cold. Even the strongest immune system needs care.

I think it's not bad.I have a friend who is usually sick whole the winter. and catching cold 2 or 3 times in winter isn't something unusual in Iran. Iranians usually take some pills without going to doctor but I don't suggest you to do that;-)

get well soon:)

So Halloween was last weekend and it was so exciting. Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday, purely for the absurdity of it. I love dressing up and i always put a lot of effort into making my costumes. I've even won a few costume contests in the past. Do you guys like to dress up? What's your all time favorite Halloween costume? What did you wear this year? My roommate was a cat and I was a 70's dicso queen...on roller skates! I don't know how to skate at all, but I managed not to hurt myself.

Hey!!! In my country this really funny holiday is celebrated only in schools and colleges. I mean only young people know about it and try to have fun wearing different costumes. Adults are so serious, but I'm gonna to celebrate Halloween till I'm 80!!!!

coool... Halloween is something wonderful, but strange. many people in England in the United State and even here in brazil it to celebrate Halloween, or the Witches' day.   Halloween has a pagan origin, dating back to Romans' and Celts' times. The Celts worshipped the god of Death, Samhaim, and the Romans worshipped Pomona, the goddess of the Gardens and Orchards - that's why Holloween colours, are black and orange.

Maybe all the world get in costume for Halloween, but I don't share that.  Each country have to rescue his own tradition and all must respect that.   Surely is a nice celebration, if my children want a costume this day, I won't oppose that.  Your costume was very nice.

So yesterday was my first day of school. I am a sophomore in college, and I am taking my second year of French. I can't help but feel like French is a very complicated language! I wonder if I think this because I am biased since English simply comes easier to me since it's my first language, or if French is indeed more difficult. What do you guys think? Do your native languages seem like the easiest, or when you look at them objectively do other languages actually seem easier than your own?

I also was talking to my friend Scott today who is starting his first year as a French teacher in high school. He was telling me about how his lesson plans include songs, art projects, and games to help the students learn French easier. We laughed at the realization that learning a foreign language is kind of like going back to kindergarten again: learning your ABC's, playing games to help with memorization, learning basic spelling, etc. I guess that's one perk to learning new languages: you get to be a kid again!

Hi Devan, i can't agree more with Nickyfat who think Chinese is most complicated language in the world. I also agree that French is truly more hard to learn than English, i nearly forget how to use it though i have learned some once. I bet if i were the student of your boyfriend, my french would be much better!

Before I was interested in Learning new languages,so I learnt some european language online, but now I have ceased learning new languages for almost 2 years, and I have completely forgetten it,I still remember 2 or 3 phrases or words.Arabic is the only language, which I didnt learn online, but the people around me talk in Arabic,so I'm listening to them and I don't need to ask them, what does it mean.I just understand the meaning myself as if it were my first language, but its not my first language at all,my first language is Urdu, and its a very easy language, even I know some Arabs who know Urdu, and whenever I am talking with my friends in Urdu they can understand it though.

Hi! Davan. I'm brazilian i think French is not an easy language to learn, because my native language is portuguese. I think is very much different time traying to learn it, but I think it possible for anyone disciplined, serious and dedicated to achieve high growth in that language , this of course requires a difficulte task of those who practice the correct exercises and pacientement it exposed.

Hi Devan, I'm brazilian and in my opinion languages from cowntries like Japan, China, Korea are more difficult than English, now I'm learning Spanish and for me it's not so difficult because its more similar to Portuguese than English.

Well. Devan, I must say English is not one of those hardest languages throughout the world, and I've learned Frence for a while, and it is really hard! And another language that I can think of is the most difficult language is Chinese, trust me, compared to Chinese, French is nothing. Try it if you don't believe me! But anyway, keep up your French learning and stick to it! Good luck on it!

Nicky^_^
