Let's go folks! One slang on day!

An idea suddenly occurred to me …......we can share the slangs or useful expressions you learned from movies or songs and you think very useful and practical in daily life  together…...................

There are many slangs in english and some of them can't be found in your textbook…. i think only the native speakers understand the deep meaning of it….

but they are very useful and enrich  your language ., the problem is we seldom have the oppotunity to use them in our daily life so despite that we may have read the slang b4 but forget it very soon…......

eg :"she is always running the show' means she is the boss she decides …......

OUT OF THE BLUE, Unexpectedly

I dislike Gossip.But when I heard them gossiping about my cousin, I was keen to know about it. It seems to be the biggest news in school, everybody was talking about it.Any idea what it is? She went to Tibet out of the blue!

She went to Tibet, what on earth ? What is she seeking out there ? Actually I've heard sth about Tibet from my English teacher.A very remote place North of china, where you can find hundreds of tasty and healthy exotic cuisines in a clean environment where you can breath some fresh air.But there are thousand of unlisted dieseas and weired culture, language and custom.Does she go there to plant some PLANTS and vegetables, such as kailan, cabbage, sweet papper, iceberg lecttuce and FRUITS, such as small oranges, plums, strawberries, and watermellon while pondering the question about her life? Or is she learning sth magical from the Tibetian monks in their holy shrines ?I wonder what she has found out there?

You can imagine, She left her husband and everything she has attained behind.In term of success, financial security, a fast paced lifestyle, she had made it.She told me although she had been enjoying the rate race and won it sooner than what's expected and the Prize really gave her great satisfaction, but soon the fire fizzled out.In recent months she got bored with herselfand everything she had.So she worked hard to figure out what she really wanted in her life.She needed a new challenge.She wanted to make a difference.So she went to Tibet.

your cousin is a woman of good taste. Tibet is also a place i have been dreaming to go to.Just as you said there are crystal blue sky and lakes, rare animals, colorful culture and warm friendly pp as well. To us who is tired of city life, Tibet is just like a paradise. But before travelling there, a physical examination will be necessary. Many ppl have serious altitute reaction especially those young and healthy youth. Ridiculous it is i heard that old ppl and children who are commonly  considered as disadvantage group can soon adjust themselves to the local environment.

 I came across one of my former alumni last summer. When she told me that she toured around Tibet and visited the potala palace during the summer vacation, i really got a green-eyed monster at that time…...

THE EMPEROR wears no clothe 

Is being an emperor tends to be greedy, superstitious and wasteful?

I think you're right, she has a good taste.But she is also keen on taking a chance on sth new, particularly an exotic one.She is now in Beijing.She just called me from Starbucks at the Forbiden City. How come a symbol of capitalist conspicuous consumption has set on one of the most ancient icons on earth?

What fascinates her is the life of the emperor, not it's ancient history. How does he live? How he spends his time. So now she is here, in the forbiden City, she wants to see as much as she can.When she looks around there are a lot of signs that in former times everything seems mostly in Gold, at least in painted gold color, the symbol of wealth. There are also lots of massive rooms, spacious fields, beautiful lakes, statutes, decocative pillars, some high walls that echo, huge gates and colourful decorative robs that represent Power. The emperor is clearly obssesive with power and wealth, she thinks.But she wants to know more about his private life, so she keeps walking around the ancient place that now becomes one of tourist's attractions. 

The forbiden city is where the last Chinese Emperor reigns, the last manchu emperor?, according to some historians has 999 wives and concubines and thousands of eunuchs as his court officials, in reality they are his servants to serve him exeptionally well.They are mostly SNAKES in the grass and RATS who rat on him.What motivates them to become eunuchs and work for the emperor is money, so in every opportunity they steal any valuable things from their emperor's coffer, if necessary they burnt it down to cover up their acts.When the emperor comes to power he is a little child, a green emperor who is innocence and naive, but he has been deceived by his courtiers who pulls the strings on him that he is a very powerful emperor and everything he said becomes law, in fact outside his palace he is isolated and powerless.

After looking around for about two hours, she pauses and thinks about the emperor's extraordinary private life, his sexual life and wastful routine.What drove the Emperor to keep hundreds of wives and concubines? to prove his sexual prowness? keep so many court officials, eunuchs, grand palace, dozen of daily lavish meals, avaricious and leisure rituals and so much WASTE ? Is his passion are power and wealth or something else ? Where his desire ends? That puzzles her in her taxi on the way to her hotel in a long and tired of the city's congestion of Beijing.

now i just want to study the normal english well,about the slang i haven't think about it

one think is sure that it is not easy being an emperor. He had to deal with so many women besides political issues. maybe it is the reason that only a few emperor had a long life span.

It rained cats and dogs here yesterday and to make the matters worse,my electical bike broke down on my way home. i became a drowned rat when i arrived home. Terrible it was.

TO KEEP YOUR NOSE CLEAN, to stay out of trouble by behaving well, that is exactly what I said to my cousin on the phone while she was wandering around Beijing, the capital city of the middle kingdom.

Beijing, once an exotic and beutiful city, now is becoming a modern and cosmopolitan where the most advanced high rise buildings are sprouting out into the sky, lots of international five star hotels, modern shopping malls, expensive apartments that change its people lifestyle, fancy cars bumper to bumpers in most of its seven super high ways that circle the city during the day and at night you can enjoy some glittering night life shows.You can also see the busy new air port that quite similar with the Changi Airport where most of tourists and businessmen as well as foreign digtinaries come and go.

To meet  the need of a convenient and efficient mass transportation, you can see a modern and efficient subway system is under construction, one of 13 planned.My cousin said it is nealy finished and must be in operation before the Beijing olympic in 2008, one year away.The most advanced and gigantic sport stadium is also in progress to host the prestigious game where the best atletes all over the world will take part in the game. The game will be watched by billions of people world wide.She told me the chinese should be proud of its accomplishments.What she has seen so far arouse her desire to get to know everything about the chinese old and rich civilization.

Do you know what her complaint during her stay there? Everything is getting more expensive, from food to mp3 !! I think it is the result of its economic growth and the fact that most of it's population needs come from outside. 

It is wise of you that you suggested your cousine keep her nose clean.

 I am a person of a little bit short fuse and always doin the things which i feel regreted after doin it. i remember once upon a time i bought a white carpet which i had always wanted. Several of my friends visited me and one of them didn't take her shoes off and made my carpet dirty. She drove me over the edge and i flew off the handle.She said she would rather not come at all.

 My home is my castle and i think i have the right to set rules. Who is right here? Am i unreasonable? Shouldn't I talk her off? What would you do if you were me? Besides if you were on the spots and you were one of them what would you have done? Would you have kept your nose clean or talked the one who had dirtied my carpet?

Do you mean sometimes you do things on impulse? My cousin is certainly clever, but sometimes she is impulsive.She sometimes buy things she doesn't need and she regret it after that.I said it is normal, No regret.

Yes, I remind her to keep her nose clean because she is a visitor in a foreign country, and when she happens to call on you I hope she would take off her shoes before stepping into your house. I heard that in Beijing the rules are strictly enforced, even for minor mistake, suppose if you wrongly cross the street, you'll be punished by the police in a weired way. Guess what the police told you do ? You have to catch another person who make the same mistake as you did then you'll be free. How long do you have to wait to get caught the victim ??

OK, her next destination is the famous Great Wall, I told her it's really worth seeing ! I think The Great Wall of China is one of the most magnificient and gigantic works man have ever built, about 6700 km long across mountainous land.Even you can see it from the MOON. Some experts say that it was built to keep the barbaric enemies from the north out.Maybe they are right, but what interested my cousin is the mind of the emperor who rule at the time and whether its purpose had been achieved and how about millions of the unfortune who paid their lives to build it ?

As a tourist attraction, it is great and clean, one of the famous landmarks.It is easy from the hotel to reach there by the hotel shutle bus or taxi.I think it is a real achievement if you can walk along step by step up more than 1 km. When you reach one of the sanctuary guard buiding, form the top,  the view is splendid. 

There are still many other places worthy of visiting besides the tourist attractions you mentioned above. Places such as

famous Xiu Shui Street where you can buy cheap but fashionable clothes,

Hutong (alley)and traditional chinese courtyard where you can learn the traitional folk culture of structures.

Bar Street of Beijing is also a good place to relax and make friends.

Beijing Botanic Gardon which is near the temple named WOFOSI and Xianshang where you can enjoy not only beautiful scenery but colorful culture of ancient china.

Speaking of the traffic rules in Beijing, i don't know much about it. Maybe it is more strict than it is used to be because of the 2008 Olymics. But it is very common that people run through the traffic light in the city i live.  hehehe

I'm always cut in the middle in fact. Especially when i go shopping with my friends. So many choices laid in front of me. Which shoes should i buy? which clothes is more suitable to me? Oh my god! I am cut in the middle.I become esecially choicy when i wan to buy something and every goods seem not perfect any more. But when i just window shop, i feel every goods is perfect.
