Gavin DeGraw is and up and coming singer-songwriter from New York. His debut album, Chariot comes out on July 22, 2003. Critics and music fans are very excited about Gavin’s music. One critic recently said, “Gavin DeGraw is an electrifying performer.”
Beth is a friend of Gavin’s. She has know him since he was a child. Listen in to her recent conversation with Miguel to learn what she thinks of Gavin’s music!

Miguel: Hey Beth, I heard your friend Gavin DeGraw’s new song on the radio. It actually sounds pretty good.

Beth: Yeah, it’s really exciting that his album Chariot just came out. He’s a really young, amazingly talented musician and I’m excited to see where his career goes.

Miguel: So how do you know him again? He’s like a high school friend or something?

Beth: Well, actually he, uh, is a friend of mine’s younger brother. So I’ve known him for a long time and, um, yeah, I’ve heard him play since he was pretty young so it will be cool to see how he evolves.

Miguel: That’s really amazing how someone who, you know, is a friend, becomes famous and it really makes you realize how famous people are just normal people llike the rest of us, you know?

Beth: I know. It’s so surreal to watch someone who seems like the guy next door become this big pop star.

Miguel: So does he have a video out yet?

Beth: I don’t know. I think… His website’s pretty cool, and it looks like they shot of, um, photos and still shots of him recording, but I don’t know if he has a actual video yet. I know he’s doing a lot of tour dates and shows all over, so we’ll see.

Miguel: So is the website just gavindegraw.com?

Beth: Yeah.

Miguel: Alright. I’ll check it out.

I’m really fired up about Gavin DeGraw’s music. He’s got a great voice, and his songwriting is very good. His lyrics are interesting and poetic.
I’m really happy about the new singer-songwriters that have come out in the past couple of years. Guys like John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz and David Gray are all making outstanding music.
