Imagine feeding a baby. The child is in your arms, its head rolling from side to side as you slip a spoonful of food into its mouth. The baby gurgles and swallows the food. To spoon feed someone information, is to treat them like a child and tell them things that are non-challenging and require little thought.
When you want someone to agree with you, you spoon feed them information that supports your position. The average newspaper in America spoon feeds information to its readers. Politicians spoon feed information about war, the economy and international issues to the public. Bad teachers spoon feed answers to tests to their students to improve test scores.
Generally, Americans do not like to be spoon fed. We find it a bit insulting.
