I pawed, you pawed, we’ve all pawed an iPod! That is, if you haven’t bought an iPod yet, you’ve surely played with one. I went into the Apple store last week to check out the iPod Nano. It’s simple and sleek and so small you can put it in your wallet…or your sock or your mouth or anywhere else you might hide a credit card-sized piece of plastic.
Listen to Taylor and I talk about iPods.

Dave: Taylor, what do you think of the iPod?
Taylor: I think it’s a fantastic little device. It can store all of my favorite albums and listen to them on headphones or on stereos or use it as a file transfer device between computers.
Dave: Yeah? That’s great, but everybody has one. It’s the big trendy thing now. Everyone’s got an iPod.
Taylor: I don’t pay much attention to that.
Dave: No?
Taylor: No.
Dave: I’m resisting it because everybody has one.
Taylor: Yeah, well, you know, we all have our hang-ups.
Dave: Yeah, we do. I, um, you know, but, I went into the Apple store last weekend…
Taylor: Uh huh.
Dave: ...you know, they look really cool, they’re super light, the, ah, what is it? The iPod Nano, that comes…
Taylor: The Nano. Yes.
Dave: ...it’s a two gigabytes, four gigabytes?
Taylor: Two to four depending on the amount of money you would want to, ah, spend, you know. But it’s for the minimalists out there.
Dave: Yeah, I do like that design, you know. It’s very simple. It’s nice. I might cave in and buy one just because the Nano is so small and it looks pretty cool.
Taylor: Right.

You can always spot an iPod user because of the white earphones and cord. They’re everywhere. But, Apple has to be careful. Sony, the company that invented the portable audio device – the Sony Walkman – plans to give Apple a run for its money in the next few years. There’s good stuff coming.
