Dave: Have you seen Brokeback Mountain yet?
Didi: No, I haven’t. I heard that it was really good, though.
Dave: Yeah, it won a bunch of awards at the, ah, whatever awards ceremony was last night.
Didi: Yeah.
Dave: Do you know what it’s about?
Didi: Um, I heard it was about two cowboys that went camping together. I’m not sure.
Dave: Yeah!
Didi: I haven’t heard too much about it, but.
Dave: Kind of like that, it’s kind of like that: two cowboys who spend the summer on Brokeback Mountain in Wyoming and they realize that they’re gay.
Didi: Mm hm.
Dave: And they kind of fall in love with each other, but they’re in the heart of, you know, middle America.
Didi: Mm hm. Is this in present times, or?
Dave: I think it’s set in the ‘50s or ‘60s.
Didi: Oh, that would add complication.
Dave: Yeah. So, they’re, you know, they’re in this kind of close-minded community where they have to keep their love for each other quiet. So, they wind up each getting married, having families, but they meet together every few months to go camping…
Didi: Mm hm.
Dave: ...on Brokeback Mountain.

Brokeback Mountain has been a huge success in the U.S. The director, Ang Lee, won a number of Best Director awards for the movie.
Some people have criticized Ang Lee for lending his talent to the making of an immoral movie. They say that Brokeback Mountain promotes homosexuality, and that Ang Lee should not have made the movie.
Have you heard about or seen the movie?
