1. Definition - Study the definition.

enduring the consequences; enduring the bad things that have happened as a result; suffering; being affected by it

2. Use - Learn how the slang is used.

Paying for it” is a common expression used in many different contexts. You can use it to describe the feeling you get any time you’re experiencing the results of a mistake you made. For example, if you broke one of your mother’s favorite plates, she might remind you of it every night at dinner time. You’d be “paying for it” every night. Or, if you do poorly in school, you could be “paying for it” for the rest of your life, because it will make it harder to get a good job.

1. Examples - Hear some example sentences.

””I can’t believe I’m still paying for the mistake I made with Julie. All I said was that I thought she looked bad in jeans. Now she gets mad at me every time we see jeans in the store! It sucks!”“

””Dude, you need to be a more careful driver. If you get in an accident, you’re going to be paying for it for a long time. I got in an accident a few years ago and I still have problems because of it.”“

””I left my backpack at home this morning and I’ve been paying for it all day. I didn’t have my books for class; I didn’t have any money for lunch; and I didn’t have my extra clothes, so I couldn’t exercise.”“
