Dave: Next week is spring break, so I’m thinking of heading out.
John: Are you going to go to Mexico?
Dave: You know, I have some friends who are actually thinking of going down to Cancun. I think I’m a bit old for that now. 29, past the Cancun-Fort Lauderdale-MTV Spring Break.
John: Ah, you’re never too old for that. You can get out there in your Speedo and walk around with all the young college girls.
Dave: Have you ever been to one of those, to like Cancun?
John: I’ve been down there, but not during spring break.
Dave: I heard it’s just crazy, chaos.
John: Yeah, I’ve heard some pretty crazy stories from my friends that have done it.
Dave: Yeah.
John: But, just a lot of alcohol, you know, a lot of partying, just from morning til night.
Dave: Yeah.
John: And, ah, yeah: you can even end up on tv, you know, if you do something crazy enough.
Dave: But, the people who go down there, I think, are just real lushes. They drink like fish.
John: A lot of it is because the drinking age is 18, and so you can go down there as a freshman, sophomore, junior, senior in college. And so, where you couldn’t drink here in The States…
Dave: Yeah.
John: ...you have no problem down there.

Many people go to Mexico or Jamaica for spring break because the drinking age is only 18. In the U.S., you have to be 21 years old to drink alcohol.
While spring break partying in Cancun and Mexico can be a lot fun, you have to be responsible. Each day, dozens of students vacationing in Cancun are hospitalized for alcohol poisoning, broken bones, stomach viruses and other injuries and sicknesses. Have fun, but be smart.
