Hi Friends!
If you have been following the eavesdropping lesson for the last few months, you may remember that I got engaged earlier this year, and that we have been busy planning the wedding since that time!
A few weeks ago, my new husband and I did get married! It was a very special day for us, and for the family and friends who were able to attend. In the conversation below Zach asks me some questions about the wedding and reception that followed.
Dialog
1. Listen and Read - Listen to the audio and read the dialog at the same time.
2. Study - Read the dialog again to see how the vocab words are used.
Zach: So, Tanis… you got married a couple of weeks ago!
Tanis: Yes I did! (laughs)
Zach: Well, that’s great news, congratulations. Where was your marriage?
Tanis: Um, We got married at a vineyard actually. So, it was an outdoor wedding and we were so thankful that the weather was nice cause the day before it just poured.
Zach: Oh, I remember that weekend, yeah. How many people were there?
Tanis: Um, we had about 250 I think. It was pretty big – I have a huge family though. Like, over a hundred guests were family members.
Zach: Oh wow! Were you nervous before it all happened?
Tanis: You know, I really wasn’t. I just felt excited and happy. I wasn’t nervous at all. We just had a wonderful time and we were really happy with the way everything went.
Zach: Well, that’s great! I heard, uh, there was some dancing going on later on.
Tanis: (Laughs) Yeah. I think, I wish the dancing could have been longer. If I could have changed anything it would have just been to extend the reception a few hours more into the night, but, um…. Yeah, there was some great dancing! You’ll have to ask, uh, Miguel to show you some of his moves!
Zach: Well I definitely will!

Discussion
One thing to pay attention to in this conversation is the sound of my voice. Can you tell from my laugh and the relaxed sound of my words how happy I am? Tone of voice is a very good indication of how someone is feeling!
Also listen to how often both Zach and I change the subject, or quickly switch topics when we are talking together. This can be very difficult to understand and follow when you are learning another language, so practice often with lessons like this one!
I hope you all have a wonderful week!
Tanis
