Punctuatin (derived from the Latin word punctum, a point) means the right use of Points or Stops in writing, which is essential to rightly understand the writtne English. If it is not properly punctuated, your reader will have trouble understanding your writing, or may even misuderstand it. the following are the prinicipal stops:
1. Full Stop or Period (.)
2. Comma (,)
3. Semicolon (;)
4. Colon (:)
5. Question Mark (?)
6. Exclamation Mark (!)
Other marks in common use are the Dash - ; Hyphen - ; Parenthesis (); Inverted Commas or Quotation marks " ".
