One of the best ways to disguise something bad you’re doing is as something good. It catches people off guard, because no one wants to accuse a good person of doing something wrong.
So not too long after Jason caught Devan selling her CDs for pot, Beren found her pulling cans out of the trash. And now Marni has found her looking weak after donating plasma. Is Devan really an environmentalist, or does she just need money really bad for…something else?

Marni: So thanks for meeting me here, guys. You’re here because I am concerned about our friend Devan.
Amanda: Who cares.
Beren: Why?
Amanda: I’m sorry, what? I’m sorry.
Marni: Well, I saw her the other day, I just ran into her on the street, and she looked like she was totally strung out.
Beren: Really?
Marni: Yeah. And I asked her, “What’s going on? Are you OK?” I was concerned. She actually said she had just donated plasma, which I…
Beren: She’s on this whole do-gooder kick. I saw her cleaning out cans at her apartment complex.
Marni: That’s not good.
Beren: No, no. She’s helping. She’s taking them…
Marni: That’s hitting bottom, don’t you think?
Beren: ...to the recycling center. To help separate the cans from the glass and stuff.
Marni: This is not an environmental concern…she’s…
Beren: She’s donating blood to help victims.
Marni: No…
Amanda: I think you guys are kind of overreacting.
Marni: Really?
Amanda: I don’t mean to sound insensitive, but she’s a big girl. We’re all big girls. I don’t think there’s anything to worry about.
Beren: She is a big girl. She’s responsible.
Amanda: Do you want an intervention or something?
Marni: Well, I think she needs help.
Beren: Why? Don’t stop her! She’s doing good. Donating blood…
Marni: I don’t see it that way though. I see it as…
Beren: Donating plasma? That’s good. I heard it’s painful. It’s a painful procedure. They don’t pay you very much.
Marni: Right. Exactly my point. Why would you do that unless you need money?
Amanda: Well, she’s obviously healthy enough to call my boyfriend, so I think she’s fine. Was that biased?
Marni: Just a little.

Discussion
Marni asked Beren and Amanda to meet her to talk about Devan. Marni is pretty sure that Devan is on drugs because she was recently using drugs and keeps doing strange things that produce a little money.
But Beren thinks Devan is just out to do her part to help the world. And Amanda doesn’t really care what happens to Devan since she’s been really jealous lately over the attention that Mason has been paying her.
So it looks like if Marni is going to confront Devan, she’ll have to do it on her own. What do you think Marni should do? What do you think is going on with Devan?
