I don't think our refusal to arm the rebels in Syria is related to the Democrats, although you are right that they seem to be less warlike. I think our refusal is more related to our proxy war against the old Soviet Union in Vietnam and our proxy war against China in Korea. Proxy wars are bad. So once Russia and Iran involved themselves, to enter on the other side would escalate things and cause even more destruction and loss of life. Those wars drag on until one major power or the other pulls out. They use grinder methods of conflict and the people suffer worst.

Its not important really except that it isn't that we don't care about Syria, it's that direct involvement would make things worse. Much worse.

By my count of major actions of the USA in the 20th c that I can remember right now, I think the count is 5 wars from democrats and 2 from republicans. If I include the smaller conflicts I think it's about 5 each. Wars here have actually little to do with political party. The speeches do though. They do talk a lot.

He's also right that nations profit from the conflicts of nations.  They all seem to benefit from conflicts. Only the people suffer.
