Derek: Hey. Have you seen that movie, Cold Mountain?
Steph: Um, not that I know of. What was it about?
Derek: Oh. It was about, uh, this woman, who was interested in a man who went off to fight in the Civil War.
Steph: Oh. That kinda rings a bell. Um, I think I saw a trailer for it.
Derek: Yeah. It’s got, uh, Nicole Kidman in it.
Steph: Oh yeah, she’s really good.
Derek: Yeah. And, uh, Renée Zellweger, too.
Steph: Oh yeah. She’s good, too. Um, I really, I really like some of her movies.
Derek: Yeah. They make an interesting pair in the movie, each learning from each other, kinda one rough and one sophisticated. But it makes for a nice little character study.
Steph: Who’s the sophisticated one?
Derek: Nicole Kidman.
Steph: Of course.
Derek: Of course.

If you think about it, there are only a few genres of movies. There are movies about war, love, friendship and growth. Usually the hero or heroine has to overcome something and the world goes on. This movie seems to be a combination of all of these. With war as a backdrop, a friendship develops and the two women learn from one another. In other words, a perfect movie.
