“It’s been more difficult than I thought, just trying to find a groove, looking for interesting characters to play.”

Demi Moore talking about returning to Hollywood and to acting.

Definition

1. Definition - Study the definition.

find a natural rhythm; get into a schedule; feel like things are flowing

2. Use - Learn how the slang is used.

Demi Moore stayed out of Hollywood for years to try to give her daughters a normal life. When she returned to LA, and to the life of an actor, it was harder than she thought to get back into it. She had a hard time finding a groove.

When you find a groove, whatever you’re doing feels effortless. Things fall into place easily and you feel productive.

You can find a groove in many aspects of your life, whether it’s work, play or even a relationship:

Work:
This project has been very difficult to bring together, but I finally found a groove and now it’s almost finished.

Play:
When Yao Ming finds a groove on the basketball court, he’s unstoppable!

Relationship:
Ever since that big fight we had last week, we just can’t find a groove. It’s pretty tense between us and we are arguing about everything.

Examples

1. Examples - Hear some example sentences.

“My work schedule is so unpredictable, I can’t find a groove. One day I have to get up early and the next I have to work late at night.”

“When I write, I eventually find a groove and then I am oblivious to everything around me. I just write for hours.”

“When Phoebe and I find a groove we can get a lot done. Last weekend we re-painted our bedroom and cleaned out the garage. “
