It’s probably the most important question you could ever ask or be asked: “Will you marry me?”

Some people like to get creative with their proposals. You can have a plane sky-write the question or ask it on the big screen at a sporting event. Some proposals come at quiet, romantic moments and others at big parties.

Mason recently proposed to his girlfriend, and Dale wants to hear all about it. Find out if she said yes!

Dialog

1. Listen and Read - Listen to the audio and read the dialog at the same time.

2. Study - Read the dialog again to see how the vocab words are used.

Dale

Mason

Dale: So Mason, I heard this as a rumor because I like to listen in. You popped the question?

Mason: I…yeah. I popped the question. I asked my girlfriend to marry me a few months ago. But it’s funny. I knew I was going to do it for a few months and it’s the kind of act that only hopefully do once so you think about what the right way to do it is and there’s all these different interpretations of how that goes.

Dale: Did you provide a diamond ring?

Mason: I had a rock that my mom gave me so that was what I used to do the act, but we ended up getting a different ring.

Dale: Was she taken off guard?

Mason: She had no idea that it was coming and I did in front of a bunch of people so she absolutely had to say yes or look horrible. That’s definitely how I played it safe.

Dale: Did you get on one knee? That’s…I think that’s what most women like to hear, “Did the guy actually get on one knee?”

Mason: I did. I did cliched-it-up, which seemed to work, so tried and true is the way to go apparently.

Dale: Oh. You planned it out?

Mason: It ended up being fairly spur of the moment, but when the time is right, you’ve to seize those opportune moments.

Dale heard that Mason proposed to his girlfriend, so he asks him if it’s true. It is! Dale wants details.

Mason says his proposal was fairly traditional. He got on one knee with a ring. He borrowed his mom’s ring and then picked out a new one with his fiance later. Mason also asked his girlfriend to marry him in front of a lot of other people so that it would be harder for her to say no.

What do you think makes a good proposal?

He doesn't has to get on one knee, but it would be cute.. :)

My dream- proposal would be him and me on a beach in Spain or somewhere at sunset ♥

i guess proposal just must be beautiful , unexpected…. like … well, let's fancy it….

you and your bf are walikng alond the seaside, slow waves hud the shore, and you just walk listening to the sounds of seagull…. suddenly you see the plane in the sky , that makes a bid hook and the smoke of it creates a gorgeous heart! you're open-mouthed with the astonishment and then your bf gets on his knee , and shouts "WILL YOU MARRY ME????" ....

there are different way to propose, we(girls) see them in the dreams , every way is incredible , but not every man understands how it's important for us …

my husband proposals me …maybe two weeks before we get married. This was hapen in our car when we came to home from journey. Hi didn;t get on one knee but ring which we have belonged to his grandfather and grandmother. Maybe it wasn't romantic but was true and real.

Although it's too early to talk about such stuffs. But I think the moment of popping the question will be memorized for the intire of the life. I don't prefer the Arab traditional way of doing it. And I wish the one who is going to ask me will make it very special to me.

I don't know, maybe the moment, the place, you don't have to do it in front of a bunch of people… and maybe with a beautiful ring, and how you do it, I mean do you have to bended knee or do you have to prepare nice prologue…uff…seems so complicated..

I'm gonna tell her story that I had dreamed of the night before and how I asked her the traditional question for proposal and suddenly I woke up! here I will ask her what would be her response to me in that sweet dream?

Based on her response I would take her to watch a romantic movie and after the movie, I will kiss her and take the rock out of my pocket and make my proposal.

I don't have a girlfriend or maybe a boyfriend, so I guess it is too early for me to talk about it, 'cause it is not my thing. I am not a romantic guy, I would rather take him or her to watch a movie, but playing some sweet tricks on the relationship, please, I don't think I can do it, at least for now, I am not into it. It's just that I don't feel like doing it, which needs lots of creative ideas, which I don't think I am good at. So whatever, it really depends on different people, I guess many, wait a minute, maybe a few are like me, I guess we are just too realistic, but you can't blame us for that, because it is the way we are, take it or not, it's up to you! Sorry, I guess I have said too much, so I'd better call it quits.

Ok ,how about this :you plan to propose to your girlfriend who does not know everything about it ,you have a ring of course.And you ask her to paly a game with you,you tell her there is a candy bar in one of your hand ,let her guess(secretly have the ring in one of your hand) , when she choose the hand holding ring,you get on one knee and say:will you marry me ?
