Sometimes, your body does things that are totally out of your control. People get the hiccups or yawn and sometimes, they get things called nervous tics. A nervous tic is something that causes your body to move without your controlling it. This week, our friend Jen asks about a nervous tic that Steph has.

Jen: So, I notice your eye keeps twitching.
Steph: I know. I know. It’s just, I don’t know what’s going on. My left eye just keeps twitching. I think it’s because I’m a little bit nervous.
Jen: Really? Oh. Even though we’re new here, there’s no reason to be nervous.
Steph: I know. It’s just so hard to be new in a place. I don’t know! And then every time I go out, my eye just starts twitching for no reason.
Jen: Oh, that’s too bad. I kinda have a nervous tic myself.
Steph: What, what happens to you?
Jen: Uh, my eye twitches, too.
Steph: Really?
Jen: Yeah, it does.
Steph: Oh my god!
Jen: It gets a little swollen.
Steph: We totally have something in common!
Jen: Well, there’s no reason to be nervous right now.

How embarrassing! If you’ve ever had a nervous tic, you know how irritating it can be. You just want it to go away. At least Jen tries to console Steph by talking about her own nervous tic. I guess we all have our secrets. Have you ever had a nervous tic? What happened to you?
