Sometimes, even though something is important to you, like a job or a position, you have to leave it for a while. When you do, you leave someone you trust in charge while you’re gone. The person who is in charge has the power and makes the decisions.
As we saw last week on As the World Learns, even using the international dating website she runs isn’t helping Marni make new friends. She can’t hang out with her old friends because they all work for a rival international dating website that is involved in a lawsuit with her company.
This week we discover that all the pressure and loneliness has been too much for Marni, so she has left town and turned her company over to her lawyer. Watch Devan and her employees react as the person Marni has left in charge of resolving the law suit and making other decisions at the company comes to visit.

Jason: Come in!
Jeff: My name is Jeff. I’m with Heathcoat and Silverman.
Jason: Okay
Jeff: I was just wondering who’s in charge around here?
Jason: In charge here…at our company?
Jeff: Yeah.
Jason: Who’s in charge…Who would be in charge…
Ella: Jason, come on, don’t play dumb. You know who’s in charge. It’s Devan.
Jason: Right. Devan. Devan’s in charge.
Jeff: May I speak with Devan?
Devan: Are you guys talking about me?
Jason: Right this way, Sir.
Jeff: Thank you very much. How’s it going? My name is Jeff. I’m with Heathcoat and Silverman.
Devan: Hi!
Jeff: May I take a seat?
Devan: I guess…
Jeff: Thank you. I’m basically here to discuss with you that Marni is currently out of town looking for friends and has left me in charge.
Devan: Really, you’re in charge? So, everything is in your hands right now?
Jeff: Yes, ma’am.
Devan: Interesting. Go on.
Jeff: Basically we’d like to offer you what I think is a very generous out of court settlement, and would like to purchase your company.
Devan: You want to purchase my company. How much are we talking here?
Jeff: My card’s here…
Devan: This is very interesting. It’s a decent offer, I could be interested. But wait a second, who would be in charge then?

Discussion
Jeff arrives at Devan’s office and asks who is in charge. Jason can tell Jeff is a lawyer, so he pretends he doesn’t know who is in charge. But Ella tells Jeff that the company belongs to Devan. Devan is in charge.
When Jeff meets Devan, he explains that Marni has left him in charge of her company while she is away looking for new friends. He will be making the decisions while Marni is gone and he explains that he would like to end the lawsuit between the two companies by buying Devan’s company. He writes a price on a card and shows it to Devan. She says she might be interested in selling her company to Marni. But if she did, who would be in charge?
What are you in charge of? Do you like to take on responsibility?
