Recently an American actress, Heidi Pratt, made headlines by having ten plastic surgery operations at once, which radically changed her appearance. Most operations aren’t quite that extreme. Still, it is common for stars in the US to have plastic surgery in order to improve their looks and make themselves more marketable. Find out if Jeff and Amy think the hunt for perfection has gone too far.

Dialog

Jeff

Amy: Have you seen the before and after photos of Heidi Pratt?

Jeff: I’ve only seen the after photos, so that’s how I know her.

Amy: Yeah. It’s pretty startling. She really does look like a different person.

Jeff: Yeah, she looks like she’d had some work done.

Amy: I guess it’s not…it wouldn’t be that striking if you hadn’t had some idea of what she looked like before. But even if you hadn’t had any familiarity with her before, if you see her now, she looks like a fake person. She doesn’t look real, you know?

Jeff: I know she’s not that old, she wouldn’t even be old enough to have crow’s feet or feel the need for botox.

Amy: Yeah, and she was already like in ridiculously good shape. It’s not like she needed liposuction or something. But I don’t know, it seems like in Hollywood especially, it’s just really common to go under the knife, like just go in and get a little nip and tuck.

Jeff: It’s gotten pretty ridiculous. I like the old viewpoint of what beauty is. It’s a little more natural, I think.

Amy can’t believe how different Heidi Pratt looks after her 10 surgeries. Jeff had never seen the actress before she got her surgeries. Still, he agrees that she looks like someone who has had a lot of plastic surgery.

Jeff is surprised that such a young actress would get plastic surgery. It is more common for older people to have surgery to hide the signs of aging, like wrinkles and crow’s feet. Amy thinks that a lot of actresses are obsessed with looking perfect. Jeff prefers a more natural kind of beauty to the kind women get from going under the knife.

I like the way i am;),and in my country,it’s not common to have plastic surgery.as i know,if someone had a plastic surgery ,i think most of them ‘ll hide it as a secret.

as far as people’s values are on external beauty and as far as the media insists and advertises on the importance of this element we must expect the increase of the number of thses surgeries and we can not help it.On such a circumstance I think if we can be more beautiful even by surgery it is ok.In my countrey it is so common to do nose surgery . not just for those who have problem but for any unperfect nose and since Iran has the best doctors in this field I think it is okey to do it

I am not totally against it. In some cases I can understand people who decide to do a plastic surgery. For instance when someone really suffers under his appearance and he has the opportunity to change why not? As long as he doesn´t go overboard! Or when someone had an accident and wants to look like before etc.

I would never do something like that coz I am self-confident and I haven´t got any problem with my appearance, but I don´t want to jude others because we can never know how they feel inside.

On the other hand there are many cases where I think people need a psychiatrist instead of a cometic surgery. Like this example of a woman who wants to look like a cat after her husband left her:

Oh yeah! really! Here in Brazil many women and men are adept at this practice ;) I guess Brazil is one of many countries of the world that people are crazed by plastic surgery,here actors are nuts by a plastic surgery mainly to be in shape…

I guess many people that living appearance want to be more beauty to appear so they resort to plastic surgery…I'm not against I'm favor of beauty since it is not exaggerated ;)

My country is enough famous of doing nip and tuck, especially for european people looking for plastic surgery at low price. In hollywood world, the norm is: you are still famous as long as you look young and attractive. That is why the actresses run to get some work done to maintain their fame.

Getting plastic surgery has become very popular nowadays. Almost every woman wants to get it. I don't know why they want to get their breasts enlarged if these organs have been made to suckle. It's ridiculous. I think everybody wants inmediate gratification instead of being loved by who one is inside. However, take into account that beauty is temporary. Someday it will end.

i think our internal beauty is the most important than the external beauty.. and plastic surgery has advantage and disadvantage ..and we should look to others how are haveing serious problems in their faces and think how lucky we are and not try to change our selvies from out side and forget the inside and our morals.. beauty is unlimated.. ^_
